Chapter Nine

Back to another day's work at the company and each time the days passed more quickly for Christmas. As every year when Christmas season arrives many get lost among the presents, run to the shops, tables full of food, but even so Christmas is not only that. Christmas is the moment of forgiveness, forgetting sorrows and bitterness; it's family time, laughter and joy. Union basically. After he started dating Azra, Kai stopped talking to his parents, neither in each other's birthdays nor at Christmas. It was a traditional family and they always wanted their son to find a girl to marry and give them their long-awaited grandchildren, and he did. He found Azra. The couple fell in love when they were in college, Kai did everything to get the girl's attention until he finally got up the courage and invited her on a date. Anyway, Azra wasn't exactly the image of girlfriend and future wife Mr. and Mrs. Kim were waiting for. They wanted someone Korean, short, even more skinnier and when Kai took Azra for the first time to meet her parents, despite being received "well", it was nothing more, nothing less than pure education. The couple opposed the relationship and Kai never, but never, considered giving up his happiness and Azra to do their will. Years passed, Kai made his life, became a successful man and Azra the same thing. Counting and adding up the years as a couple; but five years had already passed and despite everything, they were still family and Kai missed them.

1:35PM

Kai and Sehun were walking down the street back to the company after they left the restaurant where they went for lunch. Kai walked with his hands in his pockets as he stared at the floor and Sehun with one hand in his pocket and the other sliding down his cell phone as he read something a colleague had sent him. The two went quietly and entered the company, where they ran into Eireen who was with a group of teenagers in front of her, looking like a teacher making a field trip to the company. She was distracted talking to them until she turned around and saw the two tall men, she looked at the group in front of her, asking them to wait and read the papers she had given them before and walked away. Sehun and Kai raised their eyebrows, confused and stopped walking.

"Hi guys." Eireen waved and stared at Kai. "Kai, I need to ask for a favor if you're not too busy."

"Not really. What is it?"

"There's an intern that is taking the same major you did but he's having second thoughts about it, do you mind helping him with it?" Eireen explained and joined her hands as a "pretty please" for her friend to accept. Kai chuckled and shook his head.

"Yeah, sure. When?"

"Tomorrow?"

"I got you."

"Thank you so much." Eireen said as she started to walk away from them.

Before they went on their way Kai looked at Sehun seeing that he was quiet behind him and simply saw the girl walk away without saying anything. He sighed deeply as he shook his head in disapproval and tapped him on the shoulder to encourage the boy to start walking again. Sehun looked at him and nodded his head and started walking to the elevator. As they reached second floor , the men got off the elevator and walked to Kai's office. They entered the room and Kai went around his desk, sitting on his chair and crossed his legs, Sehun sat on one of the chairs in front of him. They were both quiet and Sehun looked at Kai who was trying to disguise himself but had been feeling the same thoughtful and half disturbed since morning. Sehun rolled his eyes.

"Alright, what's going on? Spit it out." Sehun asked with a hint of irritation in his voice.

"Just thinking about Christmas." Kai said as he sighed. "I haven't talked to my parents in years and I guess I just wanted them to finally stop being stubborn and have a Christmas with them and Azra, you know?"
