A few weeks had passed since Kai and Sehun met Charlotte at the bar. The girl ended up insisting so much that Sehun eventually gave her his number to go for a drink together one day and he couldn't remember how boring the girl could be, and he couldn't help but notice how the girl had become even more irritating and persuasive. But what saved Sehun was that he had really been working a lot at the company the last few days and although he was tired he didn't complain because it was an excuse he had to give not to go out with the girl. He didn't want to be rude or ill-mannered, a drink as a friend wouldn't hurt anyone, but he had no head for it. With Kai? Of course, because Kai was more than used to the dramas, bad moods and half- rude answers of his friend out of nowhere. It was something he put up with on a daily basis that from a certain point on, he stopped caring about such a thing.

It was January 14th. Kai's birthday. Azra had been organizing the last few days to throw Kai a birthday party. So the man was more than aware that something was going to happen, he just didn't know what because the blonde didn't want to say anything. It was a surprise. And it was the words that came out of Azra's mouth the most in the last few days whenever the couple talked and Kai's birthday came up. As was more than obvious, Azra had involved everyone in her plan and forced everyone to swear that they would not tell Kai anything; especially Sehun and Eireen who were the ones who saw Kai every day and spent more time with him, but the blonde also knew that Sehun and Eireen's mouth were tombs. She asked Astrid and Eireen to help her with things. She had decided to book a dinner at the restaurant that Kai most liked, for a good number of people and she still had a surprise that she would only reveal later but that Eireen already knew about.

At work, Kai had been approached by several people throughout the day who greeted him and wished him a happy birthday, and he thanked him politely with a wide smile on his face as he walked beside Sehun, who in addition to calling him at 1 a.m. to congratulate him, had given him a hug in the morning when they met, walking towards his friend's office when they looked forward and saw the door to Eireen's office open. There were two people carrying things into the office who left as soon as they got them in and greeted a tall man with black hair who looked at them and waved, greeting. The two were confused staring at each other until they saw Eireen going into the office, she went in and out. The black-haired girl looked at her two friends standing still, with confused expressions staring at her and she approached them.

"Hey, I've been looking for you." Eireen said as she approach them. "I wanted to wish you a happy birthday!"

"Thank you, I really needed to have another person reminding me I'm getting old." Kai thanked the girl with a chuckle. "What's going on? Why is there so many people going in and out of your office?"

"Old office. It's Dohyun's office now." Eireen said as she looked back at the office and then at the two men in front of her. "I'm on the seventh floor now."

"So now you're making me go an extra floor to steal your cookies?" Kai asked with a little pout.

"Yes. Also I have extra cookies, you can stop by later." Eireen shook her head. "You don't have to say I'm a good friend, 'cause I know."

"Are those extra cookies my birthday gift?"

"Yes."

"Then I'm claiming it for sure." Kai said with a cheerful tone.

She shook her head with a smile and walked away, leaving them alone. Sehun just lowered his head and sighed as he opened the office door and walked in; Kai went after him. Eireen didn't have to change her office even though she now had a new position in the company, but perhaps it was the best solution she could find to get away from Sehun for a while and not always having her head focused on the subject she had been tormenting for the past few days. The two of them entered the office and spent some time talking and what time they were both thinking of leaving, as Azra told Kai to leave early and to go meet her. Sehun already knew what time he had to be at the restaurant. The blonde had texted him all the details, so he told Kai he was going out a bit early because he had to go and take care of some things.
