CIELLE

“Ah!”

Out of irritation, which I failed to hide, I splashed some water on his face.

“This is how you do it.” Gray said while stifling his laugh.

I leaned close to the basin of water and the tip of Gray’s middle finger only touch the surface of the water and it froze. Which made me look at him with furrowed brows and scrunched up nose.

Frankly, I’m having a hard time practicing this Art of Evolution. I mean, whenever Gray freezes the water, I can easily make it go back to its liquid state. But when I’m trying to freeze the water, I don’t think something’s even happening.

Gray seemed to be deep in thought as he watch the water float around with my control.

“Maybe it has something to do with your movements.”

“There’s something wrong with the way I use my Art?” I asked.

“None. But I don’t think it’ll work with Ice.”

Gray seemed to be having a hard time choosing what word to use in order to explain his point as he opted to do a practical demonstration. Which is why I focused on his hand and arm movements.

He began to freeze the floating water. Not just that, he also made some sort of pointy ones. As well as what seemed like a spiky ice ball.

I was focusing on what he’s doing with the water that I kept afloat but I soon put all my attention on his hands.

They’re large in size compared to mine. Just looking at his hand alone speaks how much work he’s put into taking care of his body. Gray’s doing minimal movements but the veins in his hands and arms are—

“Bakit?”

“Your hand movements are stiffer than mine.” I told him after a few seconds of sorting out my thoughts. “I think I know how to make my water evolve to ice.”

Water is relatively kinetic, which is why I move whichever part of my body to control water in a flowy way. While Gray’s Art is on the static side. That explains why his movements are stiffer or more forceful.

We were in the middle of trying to do each other’s Art when Aila and Jett entered the club room.

“Of all the Elite Artees in the entire Kingdom and university.” Jett spat.

“Are we seriously telling the other Elites about this?” Aila asked. “Ayokong tanungin yung bwisit na Ace Domingo na ‘yon!”

“Edi ‘wag n’yo tanungin.”

“I thought you’re willing to set aside your hate to be more powerful than you are right now?”
