Neutral Charges {Sequel/ Sonourge}

TWENTY-FIVE

__Scourge was getting close to the cliff now. It took him a while to walk here from where Buck was buried, so it didn't surprise him when Sonic was calling him on the phone.
__"What's taking so long?" Sonic asked, sounding a bit anxious. "You know you can run, right?"
__"Yeah, I know," Scourge replied. "I'm just taking my sweet time. Think of it as payback."
__"All right, fine. But are you almost here?"
__"Yeah, I'm at the bottom of the cliff now," Scourge said as he scanned the ten feet tall rock wall. "Coming up now." He hung up the phone and put it away. He warmed up his wrists before he jumped up and started climbing. It didn't take long for him to throw himself over the top of the cliff. He stood up and started dusting himself off before looking over where the pond was. His jaw dropped when he saw the scene. Around the sparkling pond were lots of flowers that weren't there before, some candles inside of red jars that illuminated beautifully, and lots of fireflies slowly flying around. Over by the boulder was a large blanket, and Sonic was sitting at the middle of it. Scourge shook his head and slowly walked over to Sonic. "What's all this?"
__Sonic waited until Scourge sat down in front of him before answering. "After last time, I wanted things to look better."
__"Last time?" Scourge tilted his head.
__"Remember? I had you come here and was going to ask you something before that explosion in the city took all of our attention."
__"Oh..." Scourge made a small grin and hugged his knees to his chest. "So, what is it you wanted to ask me?"
__Sonic smiled as well and his face turned a bit red as he looked away. "Aha...this is going to be difficult."
__Scourge got a sense of déjà vu when Sonic looked back at him. He flattened his ears. "Well...take your time then. I'm not going anywhere."
__Sonic narrowed his eyes as he grabbed Scourge's hand with his right hand, keeping his left hand hidden behind himself. "I said last time that you were my everything, and you said you were happy that we've been together for over a year," Sonic slowly looked into Scourge's eyes, which made his heart start beating faster. "I've had a hard time with relationships as a teenager; didn't work out with Sally, Fiona, or Amy. But you were there for me, Scourge. I've never felt this happy with anyone. I want to spend the rest of my life with you."
__Scourge felt his face heat up as he scooted closer to Sonic, bring his face close to the other hedgehog's. "You were there for me as well. I'm happy to be here with you."
__Sonic expression didn't change as he continued. "And you, too, want to spend the rest of your life with me, right?"
__"That's a stupid question," Scourge giggled as he pressed his forehead against Sonic's. "I wouldn't be here if I didn't."
__Sonic pulled away and his smile grew bigger. "Your answer hasn't changed," He said in relief. "I feel a lot better about this now."
__"About what?" Scourge asked excitedly.
__Sonic scooted back a bit and brought his left hand out from behind him. In his hand was a small black box. Scourge then perked his ears when he finally understood what was happening. He couldn't believe it. Oh my fucking god! Is this really happening!? What the fuck!? He tried calming himself down, but his heart continued to beat faster. Fiona was right, I am an idiot! He kept still as Sonic sat on his knees and held the box in both hands. He looked at Scourge as he opened the box. Inside the box was a golden ring, which glistened in the red candle light. Though Scourge didn't show it on his face, he was freaking out in his mind.
__"Scourge," Sonic said softly. "I mean it when I said I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you. So, will you make me the happiest hedgehog in the world and...marry me?"
__Scourge covered his mouth with his hand as he stared at Sonic. Even though he knew this was coming, he was still bewildered. His ears stayed down as he shut his eyes and held his head down. Everything was silent, apart from the crickets singing, as Scourge's thoughts were screaming. He smiled under his hand and he started giggling. He then perked his ears and set his hand down as he looked at Sonic. The worry that was in Sonic's eyes had went away when he saw Scourge's smile. Scourge felt his eyes water up, but he kept his tears in as he finally spoke. "Fucking YES! I'll marry you, ya crazy idiot!"
__Sonic set the box down and started chuckling before he hugged Scourge. Scourge hugged him back and gripped him tightly. A single tear managed to escape from his eye and he felt Sonic trembling. Sonic had pulled away and took the ring out of the box. "Give me your hand." By instinct, Scourge handed him his left hand and Sonic carefully slipped the ring onto his ring finger. Scourge then immediately kissed Sonic. He also began rubbing his hands along Sonic's back quills and down to his tail.
__After a minute, Sonic pulled his head away, but kept his arms around Scourge. His eyes were narrowed and he put on a big smirk. "So? Did I beat the challenge?"
__Scourge started laughing as he pressed his cheek against Sonic's. "You've won me over entirely." Scourge made them both lie down on the blanket and cuddled up against each other. Scourge was extremely happy right now. He still couldn't believe what just happened. I'm engaged. I'm fucking engaged!

__"Congratualtions, you two!" Rouge cheered. "I'm so happy for you!"
__It has been six months since Sonic had proposed to Scourge. They had just finished the ceremony of their wedding and were enjoying the after party with their friends and family. Even the moebians Scourge knew and Zonic, Zespio, and Zector were there as well. Both Sonic and Scourge were wearing black tuxedos with white roses. Sometimes Scourge would start pulling on his collar to keep it off his neck. Despite that, he was happy.
__"Thanks, Rouge," Sonic replied brightly. "I gotta say it's wonderful having everyone we know here with us."
__"Are you kidding?" Tails asked. "We wouldn't miss this for the world."
__Scourge looked when Jules was walking over to him. He let go of Sonic's hand and turned his whole body to face his new father-in-law. "Hey, Jules."
__"Please, you can call me dad." Jules said. "You're officially a part of the family now."
__Scourge, for the first time, smiled happily at the robot. "Sure thing, dad." He then looked down at Buck, who sat next to him. He also wore a white collar with a black bowtie as he panted and wagged his tail happily at Scourge.
__As the party continued on, Scourge couldn't help but get lost to his thoughts. He was married now. Nothing that had happened in the past mattered now. There would come a time where he and Sonic would want a child to raise. He couldn't let Sonic be the only one with a job. He needed to start thinking of their future. He wasn't worried, though. As long as he had Sonic, there was nothing he wasn't prepared for.
__He grabbed Sonic's hand and pulled him closer. He brought his face over to Sonic's ear and felt like he was saying this for the first time. "I love you."
