__The next day, Scourge was waiting for Sonic to call him while making himself breakfast in the kitchen. Sonic had been calling him at the same time every morning since he left. While Scourge waited, he began to ponder how he should tell the other Freedom Fighters about Super Metal Sonic. It wasn't Super Metal Sonic that was making him nervous. It was talking to the Freedom Fighters on his own. He knew now that they did indeed view him as a fellow comrade, but there would always be some kind of tension between them because of his past. He never really contacted them anyway, unless he was looking for either Sonic or Rouge.
__The sound of nails clicking on the floor came near as Buck walked up to Scourge. He sat down and looked up at Scourge as he started wagging his tail, his eyes yearning for what Scourge was making.
__"Go eat your kibble," Scourge told the dog. He pointed the food bowl in the corner of the kitchen and watched Buck reluctantly walk over to it. He waited until Buck started eating before he finished making his breakfast. Once he placed his food on the table, his phone began to ring. He grabbed his phone off the counter and sat down at the table. He sighed and put a big smile on his face before he answered the call. "Hey! It's my superstar! How you doin'?"
__Sonic's face appeared on the screen. He had a big smile as well as he was messing with his bandana. "Hey, beautiful! I'm just fine. You?"
__"Never better," Scourge lied since he didn't want to worry Sonic while he was on tour. "Although, Buck's constant whimpering while he's looking for you is getting kind of annoying."
__Sonic chuckled. "Poor thing. Anything interesting happen while I was gone?"
__Scourge narrowed his eyes and flattened his ears as he shook his head. "You've been gone for three days," He pointed out. "Nothing ever happens that quickly."
__That's when Sonic smirked. "Yeah right. Word definitely got out that I'm tour. That should've gotten the attention of some of the other villains. Mainly Eggman."
__Scourge began growing a sinking feeling in his stomach. "I...don't think he would bother..."
__Sonic narrowes one eye. "You don't?"
__"Well, he definitely knows I'm here, and since I'm a Sonic, I don't think he would take any advantage with you gone..." Scourge's voice grew softer as he finished his sentence.
__Sonic had leaned back and looked at Scourge with concern. "You sure you're all right? You seem nervous."
__Scourge perked his ears and made a big smile, showing his fangs, as he softly giggled. "Nervous? I ain't nervous. What makes you think I'm nervous?"
__Sonic narrowed his eyes. "Scourge, we've been together for over a year. I know your poker face."
__"Whaddya mean poker face?"
__Sonic rolled his eyes and grinned. "I know the face you make when you're trying to hide something."
__"I'm not hiding nothing!" Scourge retorted. He then leaned back in his chair. "Just tired," He muttered.
__"Mmhm." Sonic didn't sound convinced.
__Scourge then remembered his food and started eating it while Sonic was informing him about what was happening and what he would be doing. Scourge was only half listening, though. He was still wondering if he should actually tell the Freedom Fighters about the resurrected cyborg or not. I mean it's me he's after. Why should they be involved? I can figure out how to get rid of him on my own, right? Of course I can. He's just a machine. He's no real threat. Memories of finding Fiona dead on the ground with her organs pouring from her stomach suddenly came to mind and he tried desperately to push them away. God dammit!__Scourge had decided not to tell anyone about Super Metal Sonic, not even Rouge. He felt that he had to face this on his own to prove something. He wouldn't be proving anything to his friends, though, but to himself. He wanted to prove he didn't need any help to fight his past, and Super Metal Sonic was also a part of his past.
__He was still conflicted on how he could attack Super Metal Sonic without his powers. He would have to enter the field the cyborg stationed in since it refused to leave it, unless it wanted to lure someone else to it. Scourge wasn't going to wait for it to try that. He wanted to end this before someone else got hurt, but he didn't know how he would be able to fight the cyborg. It would have all of it's own weaponry while Scourge would be defenseless.
__Scourge was in the living room trying to figure this out. As Buck tilted his head, Scourge stood up from the couch and began walking upstairs. Buck had followed him until they were in the bedroom. Scourge had been staring at Sonic's closet for a minute before he brought himself to go in it. He turned on the light and watched Buck stand right by the closet door. He then looked at the box where Caliburn rested, looking like a dusty old sword. Scourge then knelt down on both knees and started tapping at the sword where Caliburn's eye would be.
__"Gah!" Caliburn bounced in his box, making Scourge retract his hand quickly and Buck fleeing from the bedroom. Caliburn's eyes scanned the entire closet and they narrowed when they landed on Scourge. "Ah, it's the homosexual beast again."
__Scourge stifled a frustrated growl and sighed. "You do realize Sonic's gay too, right?
__"Yes, I suppose he is happy," Caliburn remarked.
__"What? No!" Scourge groaned. "I mean he's homosexual too!"
__"Why have you even brought me out of my slumber?" The ancient sword asked. "Only Sonic is to wake me, and only when there's an emergency where he needs to sword fight."
__"Sonic's not here," Scourge began. "But I need your help. You taught Sonic how to use a sword, right? And since you're the Caliburn, what's the hardest thing you can cut through?"
__Caliburn looked up at the ceiling for a few seconds before looking back at Scourge. "Well, I am the Holy Sword. I can pierce through anything. If I were to transform into Excalibur, then I could manipulate space, teleport anyone who bears me, and make portals so my user can attack an enemy in the back while they're in front of them."
__"Excalibur!?" Scourge exclaimed. He then shook his look and look pleading at the sword. "Look, I need you to teach me how to fight with a sword like you."
__"Bah!" Caliburn spat. "Why should I help you? You are not my bearer."
__"But I'm Sonic's...beau," Scourge pointed out. "You would help the people he cared about, wouldn't you?"
__"I suppose," Caliburn muttered. "Why do you want to learn how to fight properly with me?"
__"There's this cyborg hiding in some kind of force field thing that will strip me of my powers and he refuses to leave it," Scourge explained. "I don't know about you being able to transform into Excalibur to create those portals or whatever, but I'm sure you can still slice through metal. I want to be able to destroy this cyborg with you if I can't use my powers."
__"I see. But why do you want to destroy this cyborg?"
__"He wants to kill me and then someone else is going to make him kill Sonic afterwards. The cyborg is only targeting me for revenge, though."
__"Revenge for what?"
__"A year ago, I dismantled him because of what he did to my girlfriend."
__Caliburn narrowed one eye. "Girlfriend?"
__"Oi vei," Scourge shook his head again. "My past lover. This cyborg killed her, and Sonic was there to help me."
__"He killed your lover," Caliburn repeated. Anger then flashed in his eyes. "That is unacceptable! If Sonic cares about you that much, then I'll gladly teach you. I just hope you can keep up with my techniques. It took a little while for Sonic to learn. I kept calling him Knave the Hedgehog before he was called Sir Sonic, Knight of the Wind. Until you're able to use me properly, I shall call you Knave as well."
__Scourge groaned and rolled his eyes. Why am I doing this? "Whatever. Let's get started then." He grabbed Caliburn out of the box and left the room.
__"Now hold on," Caliburn started. "I must be cleaned up and sharpened before training begins."
__Scourge stopped and held up the sword to where he could see his face. "I get the sharpening part, but the cleaning?"
__"I must be presentable at all times. You do know how to sharpen a blade properly, right?"
__"I may have been using chains back in the day, but I've had my fair share of knives."
__"Good."
