"I'm Kim Taehyung. I came to make sure that this event was set up perfectly," the man introduced.
There is a very attractive man talking to me, and I'm not saying anything.
"Hello?"
I snapped back into reality, switching to Korean I said, "Ah sorry. I was just confused because I was under the impression that you were an artist who performing."
He clicked his tongue, "I am, but my girlfriend wanted me to come down and make sure that the setup for her stage was perfect. Then other performers contacted me saying they wanted me to check for them too. So here I am."
I swallowed hard, "Would your girlfriend happen to be the girl on the banner?"
"Yeah, why?"
"Umm no reason! Just wanted to make sure. Is everything up to your standards so far?" I changed the subject quickly.
"Well there's nothing up yet so no."
Looks like someone has an attitude.
"You are the one in charge right? I'm glad to see they got a fellow Korean to lead the troops. Communication will be so much easier this way. And you are...?"
I quickly covered my name tag, trying to make it look as casual as possible. I'm sure he already knew about the deal with Sora and I so if he found out I was her, he might flip out.
"You can call me Soorim," I said.
It had been three years since the incident and in that time I had changed a lot. I got a bob cut, dyed my hair black, and underwent a whole wardrobe change, but you could never be too careful.
"So is there anything in particular you wanted to get setup first?" I asked.
"Let's get my girlfriend's stage in first. We can worry about the rest later," he said.
So we went to work on figuring out all of her props and how and who would bring in what she needed and whatnot. I was really passionate about my job and I was able to get so into it. If I couldn't be on the stage performing, at least I could be behind the scenes crafting it into its true splendor.
"My girlfriend just texted me. She said she's changing two of her songs and needs the lights to be changed too," Taehyung said.
I frowned, "But we already set up everything for those songs already. I get she wants things to be perfect but I've got other things to work on. I've got fourteen other stages to set up including yours and then I need to work on setting up the booths and areas for activities. I'll see if I can talk to some people to work it out, but I've gotta switch gears."
He grabbed my wrist, "It's important."
"So is my job. I'll try and work it out later," I said, pulling my hand away.
I ordered the employees to switch to the next stage and continued with our setting up.
I managed to work out all the details for the other artists, envisioning each of their stages with perfect precision.
"Taehyung, since you're here, why don't we run through your set now to make sure that all the mics and in-ears are working. This way tomorrow we can run through it without stopping," I said.
It was late afternoon by then so he grumbled, "I'm hungry."
I sighed, "There's snacks backstage but can we please run through this? Then you can eat everything."
He groaned, hopping up on the stage sulkily.
"What a child," I huffed.
He started singing his songs the beautiful melodies giving me a sense of nostalgia. Even his dances had been crafted to tell a story. It all felt so personal. So real.
