Chapter 24 Suspects and Alley

The next day I showed everyone the letter. At first I had decided to keep it a secret but they all deserved to know.

"Wow Z. Breaking girls legs. Real nice." Kate said, rolling her eyes.

"It's fine. I'll kill him when I find out who he is." Kameron promised calmly.

"Wow. That's a bit extreme." Kate said.

"No. No it's not. I'll kill him not torture him. I think I'm doing him a favor." Kameron replied.

"Well either way, we need to find out who Z is." Gomin said.

"How will we ever find him?" Robby asked.

"Lets list down the suspects." I suggested, taking out a note book and all the letters.

We all sat down on the floor in a circle and started.

"Ok so the first letter gives no clue. Just a welcome back letter." I said.

"On the second letter, he is warning us about Stark being an enemy. So it can't be Stark sending the letters or else he wouldn't have said that." Gomin continued.

"Ok. On the third letter, he tells us about the bracelet." I said. "But how did he know it was there?"

"Maybe it's Tori. Maybe she didn't want to hand it over for some reason and so she started sending these letters." Kate suggested.

She was laying on my bed since she still had a cast on.

"But why would she warn us about Stark?" I asked.

"Maybe she knows something that no one else does." Kameron replied.

"Ok so Tori is one of our suspect." Robby said. "Now the fourth letter. He just says that it was easy to find the bracelet and he threatens us."

"The only person who would know that you found the bracelet would be Tori since you guys didn't tell anyone, right?" Kameron said.

"True." I replied.

"Ok. So far Tori is seeming more and more the suspect. Now the fifth letter." Kate continues.

"Now this is where it gets complicating. Z says to watch out for Stark again. And this time Fany and Tori. But if it was Tori then why would she say that?" I questioned.

No one had an answer. "And this is also where Z says Carsims can't be trusted. Tori wasn't at the meeting when I was told about a Carsim betraying us." I said.

"Our other suspect would be James. He kept saying Stark might betray us and that's exactly what Z keeps saying." Kate said.

"And the last one is Z trying to kill Kate." Kameron said.

"Wow. Over exaggerate much." Kate said, rolling her eyes.

"Whatever." Kameron replied.

I smiled to myself. Those two are so cute.

"Well James and Tori are our suspects." I said.

"I was thinking about something." Gomin said.

"Wow that's a first. Gomin, thinking." Robby joked.

"Ha. Ha. Your so funny. But seriously listen. When we went to the cookie store, a man walked in and dropped his pen. When Mickey went to get it, that's how she found the bracelet." Gomin said.

"Ok? So?" Kate asked.

"Think about it. The man was dressed in black and you couldn't see who he was. And what are the chances that he came the exact same day that we were told to go there AND he dropped his pen at the exact same place where the bracelet was found." Gomin explained.

"Gomin is right. That's too much of a coincidence." Robby said, sitting up straight.

"Are you sure it was a male?" Kameron asked.

"Yes." Gomin and I simultaneously replied.

We all looked at each other and said one word. "James."

I was sitting on my bed, reading a book. After we all suspected James, I decided that we couldn't just assume it was him. We had an argument and decided to just drop it for today.

I was in a terrible mood. Robby's birthday is coming up. Hilary and the twins are still mad at me. Z is hurting my family and we have someone betraying us. On top of it all, I can't tell the adults who can actually help.

Tomorrow Gomin and my siblings are going to start school and I don't know what I'm going to do. School doesn't start yet for me but I don't want to stay here. But it's better I do and try to solve the problem.

I decided to text Hilary and Danny on the group text.

~Hi peeps. Miss you~ Mickey

~Mickey!! How r ya? Missed u too~ Danny.

~I'm good. Where's Hilary at?~Mickey.

~ :/ no idea.~ Danny

~Hilary? Please talk to me~ Mickey.

I didn't get a reply.

I sighed and got up. I decided to take a walk.

It was cold outside. I shivered and started walking. It was around 4pm and the streets were a bit busy. Everyone kept glancing at me. I knew it was because they know Robby's birthday is coming up and are wondering if I know what to do.

I spotted Chase while I was walking past a cafe.

"Hi Chase." I said.

"Oh Mickey. Didn't see you there. How's it going?" Chase asked.

"All is good. What about you?"

"Same. How is Kate doing?" Chase asked with a concerned look in his eyes.

"She's holding on."

"It's so frustrating. I wish I saw who the guy was. If we ever do find out...." he trailed off.

I smiled to myself. Kate was a lucky girl, not only does she have an overprotective twin that would die for her but also a nice guy that truly cared about her.

"Well why don't you go visit her?"

"I was just on my way there, actually. Wanna come with me?"

"Nah. I'm going to continue walking around aimlessly." I said with a grin.

We said our goodbyes and parted.

I was passing by an alley, when I saw two figures standing there hidden by the dark. For some reason I was tempted to go. So I crouched low and hid behind a dumpster.

"........trying my hardest." a male voice said. The voice sounded very familiar.

"And your sure no one suspects anything?" another male voice asked.

"Ya I'm sure." the familiar voice replied.

"Good." the other voice said. "Well I'll see you around." And he started walking away but then stopped and turned around. "A word of advice, don't displease my father. You will regret it." And with he started walking away.

I changed my position so that he won't see me as he passes by but so that I can.

I took a quick glance.

Cole.

Cole passed by me and left. The other familiar male was standing there and after a while, he also started walking past me.

I peaked from my hiding place and my heart nearly stopped beating.

What is Stark doing talking to Cole?
