Chapter 32: Betrayal!

"I can't believe this." Kameron whispered, not for the first time.

We were sitting on the floor inside a cellar. After we saw King Jared, he ordered the guards to place us inside a cellar.

"How could he?" Kate whispered.

Fany was sitting on the floor and spoke for the first time. "There has to be an explanation."

"How could you still defend the traitor?" Gomin demanded, bitterly.

She didn't reply. I couldn't blame her. I was beyond shocked when I saw Stark there.

*flashback*
"Stark. What are you doing here?" Kate demanded.

He didn't answer. He was looking straight at Fany.

"It's not what it looks like." Stark said.

"Then what is it?" Fany yelled. "Why are you here? Why have you been avoiding me?"

"I- it's-Fany...." he didn't have an answer.

"Please, don't tell me th-tha your working for them." Fany pleaded.

Stark didn't reply. King Jared walked behind him and gave him a pat on the back. "My friend, it's time you come clean. Tell them where your loyalties lay."

"How could you?" I yelled.

"Mickey...."

"Don't. Ever. Say. Her. Name." Gomin said, through clenched teeth.

King Jared smiled. "Take them away. You know where to place them."

*end of flashback*

"This whole time it was him. And to think I was always defending him!" Gomin said.

"We were all fooled." Kate said.

I heard Fany sniffing. I walked towards her and placed a hand around her shoulders. I can only imagine how she feels. Betrayed by the person she cared about most.

"Are you ok?" I asked her.

She shook her head. "I don't feel so good." And then she fainted.

"Fany. Fany." I yelled.

Kameron came next to me and checked for a pulse. He listened for a few seconds then sighed in relief.

"She's been here for too long. We need to get her out or else..." Kameron didn't need to finish his sentence.

"How do we get out of this dump?!" Gomin yelled, frustrated.

"It's a good thing I'm here to help." A voice said. We all looked towards the person and froze. Then I yelled.

"What do you want?"

Stark looked hurt when I yelled at him. Ha, he has no right too look hurt

"I'm here to help. Just give me a second." he replied, looking for something in his pockets.

"Why would you help us?" Kate demanded.

"Ya. Probably a trap. We should have guessed it was you. After everything we've ever done for you. All those times we defended you, you were betraying us." Gomin said looking furious.

"Look, I didn't betray you guys. I would never do that!" he said

"Then what are you doing here. Why did Jared treat you like his best pal?" Kate said.
