Chapter 29:Run Away

"I can't believe he would do this!" Kate exclaimed, not for the first time.

"Can you honestly blame him?" I asked

"Yes. Yes I can and I will." She replied, furious.

Kameron sighed. "Calm down Kate."

"Don't tell me to calm down. You don't tell a girl to calm down. Ugh." Kate said.

I looked at Gomin. He hasn't said anything this whole time. We were sitting in the main room. It's been two days since I got the letter. Two days since Robby left me the letter telling me that he ran away.

"Why?" Gomin asked no one in particular.

"That's what we are all wondering." Kameron said.

When our parents found out, they went frantic. They sent out search parties everywhere. Every citizen of Larington, Carsim and Charilot were aware of the fact that the prince had run away and were on the look out.

"Can things get any worse?" Kate exclaimed.

"Don't say that!" Gomin said, looking scared.

"I'll see you guys later." I said, getting up to leave.

"Where are you going?" Gomin asked.

"Danny." I said, as an explanation.

I left, slamming the door hard. I can't believe Robby would just leave at a time like this. When we needed him most. And Danny still hasn't woken up. I don't know what's wrong with him. The doctors told me nothing like this has ever happened before.

It was a long walk to the hospital but I didn't mind. I started to think about the riddle.

'To cherish memory, you buy it'

That was the first line. What do you buy to cherish memory? An album? A camera?

'Maybe to remember forever, depends on your heart to what it is but evil or good, you can have it'

You buy an album to remember forever. But why does it say evil or good you can have it?

My mind wondered off to other things. I'm starting to learn how to control my magic. I even practiced with the bracelet on my own. It was truly amazing. It magnified my strength.

If only I can find The Great Book then I can break the spell. Today is January 8. Four days until Robby disappears. And what does Robby decided to do? Run away!

I reached the hospital and started my away towards his room. I didn't have to ask for help, I knew where it was.

I got to his room and slowly opened the door. There was a nurse sitting on a chair by his bed.

"How is he?" I asked.

"No difference."

I sighed. "Can I have a moment?"

"Of course. Call me if you need anything."

"Thanks."

The nurse left and I walked over to his bed. Danny was laying down on his back, looking peaceful. I sat done on the chair next to his bed and held his hands.

"Danny. Please wake up, please. I miss you. I can't stand the thought of something bad happening to you."

Everyday I come here and talk to Danny, tell him how much I miss him and my life here.

"Robby ran away and his birthday is in four days. As I told you before, that's when he'll disappear."

No reply.

"I'm scared Danny. I just wish none of this was happening. I miss you. I miss Hilary. I miss Jace and Janet. They still won't talk to me. Mom told me that they miss me and they said they'll talk to me only if I come back."

"Of course I want to go back but I can't right now."

Still no reply. Of course.

"Please, wake up." I didn't realize that tears were running down my face. I buried my head in his chest and cried.

After a few minutes, I got up, ready to leave. "Stay in there Danny. I promise I'll find a way to help you."

I left. I had an idea. I could use the bracelet to wake him up. But not at the moment. First, I have to find The Great Book and find a way to break the curse. After that, I don't care what Z says, I'm going to use it to wake Danny up. Maybe there will be something in The Great Book to help me.

When did things go this bad?

I got home and went to the kitchen. I hadn't eaten anything the whole day and I was starving. I made myself a cheese sandwich.

I was in the middle of enjoying it, when Kate walked in.

"Ohhh that looks good. I'm gonna make me some sandwich" she said

"Yup. So how are ya?" I said, not knowing what to say.

"Really? That's possibly the worst question you could ask." she said, sitting next to me.

"I didn't know what else to say." We sat in silence, eating.

"Mickey, we need to find a way to break this curse. Kameron and I have been up for hours searching for traces on The Great Book but we just can't find anything."

I instantly felt guilty. We still haven't told them about the riddle. Maybe I should. And that's what I did.

"Why didn't you tell us?" Kate demanded.

"I-I don't know." I replied, looking away.

"Well, you should have." Kameron said.

"I'm sorry."

"Hey, maybe it was wrong that we didn't tell you but now we did. It's the past so drop it." Gomin said, coming to my defense as always.

"Ok whatever. So what do you think it is?" Kate asked.

I shrugged. "An album."

They thought about it. "I guess it makes sense." Kameron said.

"We'll think about it and everyone can give their answers tomorrow. Search on the Internet. Read books. Ask scholars. Just find an answer." Gomin said.

"I'll be right back. I'm have to go get something from my room." I said, getting up.

I got in my room to get a sweater only to find, surprise surprise, a letter. Looks like Z came by.

I shuddered. I can't believe this creep comes in my room. How does he do it?

I walked to my bed and read the letter.

'Oh wow, didn't see that coming. So.....how is it possible that you can do magic? Well it's a nice surprise. Now you can break the curse. You have the bracelet, all you need is the book. Should I help or should I not?
Z'.

If I don't kill this guy.......
I went downstairs to show the others the letter.

Gomin looked at me as I entered the main room. "Oh heck no, please if it's a letter, just walk out Mickey."

Kameron sighed and read the letter out loud.

"I hate Z" Kate said.

"Welcome to the club." I muttered.
