POV. MATTIA

Alejandro and Alvaro quickly hopped into the car and the latter of the two instantly asked.

Alv: Where's Kairi? I thought you said you needed help with him.

M: umm-I-umm.

Mattia felt his eyes start to water as he pictured Kairi, lying in pain in his room.

Ale: Where is he Mattia?

M: He's at home Ale. He got jumped at school. They beat him up really bad. I called you because I don't know what to do and he won't let me take him to the hospital.

The other two boys didn't respond. They just nodded. Mattia drove home and as soon as the car stopped, the three of them ran into the house and up the stairs. Alejandro stopped in front of Mattia's door for a second before gently pushing the door open. Kairi had woken up while Mattia was gone and he looked scared and hurt.

POV THIRD PERSON

K: Mattia. I-I thought you l-left me.

M: I would never leave you baby. Never.

Alvaro gently sat down on the edge of the bed.

Alv: What happened Kairi.

K: It's really not that bad guys. Just some random kids at school.

Kairi tried to keep his voice steady but he was still in pain and it was obvious to the other boys.

Ale: Why?

Kairi looked up at Mattia, fear in his eyes.

M: It's ok Kairi, they already know about us remember? They won't be mad or anything.

Kairi nodded slightly before looking back at Alejandro and Alvaro.

K: They beat me up cuz I-I'm gay.

Ale: Wait, you're telling us that someone beat you up because you like guys?

K: Yeah, I guess so.

Alv: Who does that?

Kairi and Mattia both knew exactly who would do such a thing.

Ryan

M: Is there anything you think we should do guys, I think he should go to the hospital. I did my best but I'm not a doctor I-

Ale: You did good Mattia. He doesn't need to go to the hospital, he'll be fine, just keep the scratches clean and he'll be fine.

K: Thanks Ale. See Mattia, I told you I don't need to go to the hospital

The three boys talked for a few more minutes before Alejandro and Alvaro left. Mattia crouched down beside Kairi.

I have to know.

M: Kairi. Can you please tell me what happened. I need to know, ev-everything.

Mattia helped Kairi to sit up; Kairi letting out a hiss of pain when Mattia accidentally pressed on his ribs. When Kairi was comfortably sitting up he took a deep breath and started telling Mattia about the day's events.

Don't cry Kairi, it'll only make it hurt more.

K: I-uh. I was almost to the cafeteria when R-ryan saw me. I tried to get away but they all chased me and I didn't know where to run. I ended up in the hallway with the change rooms and there was n-nowhere to go. I tried to tell him to stop. Mattia I was fucking begging him. He kept calling me a "motherless fag" and then they all just started hitting me. Mattia I was so scared. I-I couldn't fight back, I couldn't do anything. Ryan kept saying that you didn't actually like me, that you just want my body and that you're gonna drop me to embarrass me. He kept saying stuff like "he doesn't accept gay people at our school. Th-they wouldn't stop. Mattia where were you, why didn't you come find me?
