They have to not be happy because life is full of pain and suffering. They were never taught true happiness. But as they grew up, they realized more and more their life isn't normal. So they left their parents, breaking the norms they inflicted upon them.

- Because of their depressing lives, Eustacia and Price's parents' actions never left them. They're awfully quiet, and they don't understand modern humor. They don't even talk to each other, because they think "What is there to talk about?".

- Their relationship had always been broken from the start. After leaving their parents, they struggled to bond as siblings. They were exactly the same in terms of interests, personality, and life experiences, so there was no form of distinction between them. Unable to put their relationship together, they went their separate ways once again, living in separate places. They rarely speak a word to each other now.
