Still in a state of shock Sarah stood up the blanket sliding off of her. " I need to start at the beginning. Please don't interrupt I would rather tell this story one time." Taking another sip of the tea she did not seem to be aware she was crying. Rachel tried to comfort her but Sarah pulled away.
In a shattered voice she began her story. "After the tunnel collapsed I followed Alek and his men to another passage. The passage was narrow and I had to stay a couple of yards away from the Bulkans so they wouldn't know I was trailing them. The underground routes looked like the hay maze in Weston but more scary because there was no light but the torch Alek carried. There were many paths to take and the only reason I wasn't lost was that I could make out Alek's footprints in the dirt. We stayed in the underground passage for what I could estimate was an hour before Alek and his men made it outside. When I saw light ahead I stayed hidden. I waited until Alek and his men was at the shoreline to move closer. In that location I saw dozens of ships covering the bay. Using the rocks as cover I overheard Alek telling the men to get ready to strike. "Sarah pausing to take a sip of tea as her words flowed again.
"There were twenty heavily armed battle ships in the bay ready to sail off. Those ships were so close to the city that one shot could break through the wall. I waited for Alek to get on one of the rowboats. Once they set out did I move to the sea and watch them go. I couldn't let them hurt anyone in the city and I knew my power increased in the sea. "Her voice held no emotions as Sarah seem to be reliving her past.
"The first thing I did was to create a whirlpool hoping that it would stop all the ships in the bay. With my power boost from the sea the whirlpool appeared instantly pulling ten ships in it. I did not pay attention to the destroyed ships but on the ones that got away. I made the waves in the sea reverse their current with my magic. I got six ships to fall into the whirlpool. The other four must have seen the unnatural occurrence and tried to escape. I lost control I didn't mean it but somehow, I pushed the remaining ships into the whirlpool I can still hear the screams in my head. The last ships had no survivors all drowned in the monster I created. I notice the survivors of the first couple of ships try to get on shore. Just as before the whirlpool current sucked the majority of them in it. I panicked and tried to end the whirlpool, but it became stronger and killing most of the men trapped in it. I push the remaining survivors to the shore with my magic. I could still see the dead bodies in the water. Seventy men or more made it to shore and I hid in the rocks trying to calm down. It took an hour for the whirlpool to disperse and by that time the Navy arrived." Sarah declared ending her tale looking around for anyone to speak.
"I never saw anything like that before when I approach the bay. The enemy were all injured and half afraid. Most surrendered to us instantaneously but the general fought a little." Lord Thomas adding reporting his involvement in the capture of the Bulkans.
No one spoke after that not knowing what to say. It's obvious Sarah lost control of her magic and killing the Bulkans wasn't part of her plan. Taking a life was the last thing Sarah would condone and that would explain why she look so haunted. She took the lives of many men even though they were murderers to most of us but to Sarah they were people. They were humans that deserved a chance at life that was Sarah's motto.
"Sarah, it's over now "Rachel said finally moving to Sarah' side. Latching on to Rachel Sarah buried her head in our friend's lap letting herself fall apart. Helpless I watched as Mark attempted to calm her down without success. Only Rachel continuous stroking of her hair seemed to work. It seems Sarah would calm down when yelling from outside of the tent disturbed her. Her face lifted at the tent's opening as one man had her haunted again
"Let me go you cowards and fight like real men "said an angry voice. Seeing who the voice belonged to made my blood boil. Alek was being dragged in the tent by two guards. In chains and waterlog the man was a far cry from the man I met in Weston. This was the man that killed my neighbors and he had the nerve to be belligerent.
