Inside the castle I watched men and women cover the windows and any openings to keep the dust out. Nails, wood and cloth that the servants collected were all used as shields from the storm. Scanning around the room for my love ones I saw father and the others all safe huddled in the corner.
"We need to stop this before they get away" commanded Louis holding Navarro in his arms. The little boy was weeping in fear and the king tried unsuccessfully to calm the boy down. It broke my heart that my sister was the cause of his misery.
"The only person who could stop this is Rachel" I said looking at my strong friend laying on the floor bleeding. Laura continued to send her magic in Rachel's wound but it was a slow process. Jordan hovered over the two letting tears run down his face. Going over to the boy I couldn't let him fall apart. Jordan's emotions were too tangled up with his magic. We didn't need his magic combining with my sister's it could cause chaos. "
" What about Jordan he can use his magic" suggested Louis.
"He's a beginner and cannot reverse another witch's magic." I answered holding Jordan with my good arm. "If he tried to interrupt my sister's spell it could make things worse."
"Are you saying we let them get away." Louis spoke directing his rage at me. I know me being Mel's sister would seem bias. And many must think I want her to escape but they were wrong.
"No but we need someone else to do it."
"What about Gail" Sarah speaking up looking at both of us "She's an earth witch and can easily combat Melissa's magic."
Louis stayed silent going over the idea." Fine where is Gail located." It took only minutes for a Weston survivor to volunteer the information. Sending the survivor to retrieve Gail Louis and his men went into Lord Thomas's chamber to formulate a plan to capture the traitors.
At that I wonder should I inform Louis of my previous vision of Mel's future. Should I crush his hopes or let him find out by himself that she escapes justice for years. I decided to keep it to myself because nothing could be done about it. It will soon pass, and I hated knowing Mel and Matthew will not face punishment. However if my vision was true the life they will be living seem to be a fitting compromise.
Taking solace in that I see Rachel now standing with some help from Malcom. Her face was paler and every time she moved Rachel would flinch in pain. Her arm was tied in a loose bandage made from pieces of Laura's dress.
"Sissy" cried Jordan wrapping himself around his sister. The boy's size and force nearly knocked Rachel down if Malcolm wasn't there.
"Jordan take it easy she still hurt" Malcolm lightly scolding the child. Jordan nodded letting go of Rachel but stayed near her side.
"Lets get your wound clean Rachel" Laura ordered summoning a maid to them. "Find us a room please and any extra clothes that you can spare."
"Yes my lady" said the maid taking off toward the stairs of the castle. We waited to be moved when a scuffle near the door took place. Involved in the fight was Cody and one of the Weston's survivors named Nathan. Nathan was about my father's age and use to be the blacksmith of Weston. And most importantly was the father of Luke one of many dead in Weston. A young man that was in love with Mel. Even defending her in the fields to me many months ago.
Knowing of his death I felt bad for Nathan as he punched Cody in the stomach. He was finally restrained but not before kicking Cody in the head.
Withering in pain Cody held his head. "I want to talk to the king. I want my pardon" he demanded receiving several glares from everyone.
