Sitting on the bed in one of the guestrooms in the castle we're treated like royalty. We were bathed and freshly clothed by the servants at our arrival. The luxury treatment almost overshadow the fact we're kidnapped earlier in the day and held hostage. And the fact half of the people responsible escaped and one of them is my own sister. That one thing kept needling at my mind worst than the throbbing pain in my right arm. After cleaning the wound I admitted my arm looked ghastly but I wouldn't let Laura check me out.
The last time she helped me was when a wooden nail was stuck in my foot. My caring friend Laura told me to count to ten. Foolishly I did what she said only for her to yank it out on the number five. After that I refuse to let that madwoman come near me.
"Andy your arm looks really bad." Sarah stuttered looking at the bone sticking out of my skin.
"Andy stop this ridiculousness and let me examine you." Laura scolded moving toward me on the bed we all were sitting on. Scooting away I wasn't going to be tricked this time around.
"Andy you cannot walk around with your arm like that." Rachel argued rolling her eyes. "I let her treat me and look at me now." Rachel gestured to her bandage shoulder. Pressing my lips Rachel seemed fine but her pain tolerance was higher than most. Looking at my arm I relented knowing Laura would have to look at it.
Sensing the change Laura patted a spot on the bed. "Andy let me see the damage I promise no surprises." At that promise I let myself lay on the bed as Laura hovered over me. She grinned starting her inspection of my arm. The warm glow of her magic was the only warning as a light consumed my body. If felt like it was traveling up my arm with a force of a wave current. It was weird but serene at the same time. The nerves I felt before halt as the magic seems to focus on my arm.
Laura analyzed and prodded until she finish giving her recommendation. "You didn't break a big bone, but it will need to be reset." Dreading that answer I knew I had to stop being a baby and take the pain.
"Laura be gentle" I said already feeling edgy.
" I promise "Laura said putting pressure on the arm and the ache went away with magic. I was thankful for that until I heard a snapping sound. My body screamed out in agony. I think I would have blacked out if Laura didn't splash water on my face. After that my injured arm was put in a sling.
Holding out two cups of what look like green tea Laura gesture for me and Rachel to take both. "This will help with the stiffness and healing of both of your arms. "The smell alone was rotten, but Laura stood over us like a mother waiting for us to swallow every drop.
Sipping it I cough feeling the disgusting mixture come up my stomach. Rachel was holding her own observing my reaction. My near vomit made her look at the cup with uncertainty.
"Laura this is nasty." I complained earning a glare.
"Andy its medicine most of it taste gross but the point of it is to heal. Now both of you hold your breath and drink" ordered Laura her hands on her hips.
Looking at the drink I followed Laura's instruction. I forced it down my throat slowly making sure not to throw it back up. Rachel did the same thing and finally it was all down.
"Now that wasn't that bad" Laura replied rolling her eyes.
"Laura that was dreadful" grounded out Rachel drinking some water and trying to wash the taste out of her mouth.
"You will thank me later when the pain is numb " Laura bragged.
"Right now, I disagree with you Laura" Rachel scoffed relaxing in the bed. The bed was huge fitting all four of us. Lying beside Rachel I could see Laura joining her on her other side. Sarah scooted in making me the middle person. We laid like that for some time when Rachel spoke.
We sure had an eventful walk " she joked receiving grunts from the rest of us. Getting stabbed didn't take away Rachel's sense of humor.
" Now because of the Walkers. We will have guards around us at all time" Laura groaned. After we got to the room our men made us promise never to leave without protection again. The lesson that Mel and the Walkers taught us was eye opening. We were no longer country bumkins but royalty. Our lives are now in constant danger by the titles we will one day hold.
"We protected ourselves pretty well today "Rachel protested stubbornly but we all stared at her in disagreement.
"Rachel you are stabbed and Andy has a broken arm" Laura pointing out our injuries.
"We were caught off guard that will not happen again. And I bet the boys will find Melissa and Matthew in no time" Sarah voiced cuddling next to me. At her comment I wanted to tell of my vision, but it wasn't the right time. The men went out over two hours ago to join the search for the traitors. All of them wanted vengeance of some form and once we were settled they rushed off. Gail lessen the storm a little bit so with scarves it was safe to travel in. I remember the kissed Jacob gave me as he left.
"Those men are making us soft" mutter Rachel earning nods from all of us. "Malcolm actually told me he didn't want me to lift nothing on our departure. Something about me being too stressed out and not being good for his babies."
"That man loves you Rachel" I said thinking of how he accepted Rachel's pregnancy with ease. Malcolm hearing news of the twins from my grandmother made all kinds of plans for their future. He could not wait to meet his sons and brag about them already. I was about to congratulate Rachel about finding Malcolm when the door opened to the room. God I hope it wasn't another kidnapping attempt because I cannot handle another one.
