"Hello my dears, how are you doing"  greeted Grandma Ruth entering the room giving us all a beaming smile. She had on a new dress and obviously washed up. Her face was clean and her red hair neatly tied into a braid. Sarah moved aside a little so grandma could join us on the bed. Her bright hazel eyes scanned Rachel and myself because of our wounds.

"We are fine grandma but some of the ones that attacked us got away." I answered not sure yet to tell grandma of Mel's involvement in the incident. At that I got an ominous stare knowing she foreshadowed this event with her magic already.

"My girls this is your fates" She responded taking four red velvet bags from her pocket handing each of  us one.

"Grandma what is this" Sarah  asked looking at the bag in her hand.

"Goodbye gifts for my special girls now open them" grandma urged . Each of us opened the bag quickly and were in awe. Staring back at us was custom-made necklaces with a different gemstones for each of us.  When we held the necklaces grandma begin explaining her gifts. "For my kind Sarah this pearl necklace is for you.. A pearl is from the water and I thought it fit my water witch well. You are so special, and I wish you can see that and not doubt that anymore."

Sarah nodded holding the necklace tightly as grandma smiled and turned to Laura. "Laura you can't see so I made this blue topaz necklace especially for you. It is engraved  with a raven to feature your name Blackbird. You are so brilliant and complex not accepting praise for your success. Nevertheless it's alright to not be humble a little bit and being a queen, don't shy away from it." Laura cried at the touching speech but agreed. Moving on to Rachel she laid her hand on my friend's belly. "Honey I know about your talents of making jewelry and other things with your magic" Ruth surprising Rachel. "Dear you can't hide things from my eyes, but I got this black diamond necklace for you anyway. It's time to stop hiding your skills Rachel. Do what you want  and don't let anyone hold you back anymore."

" I promise" Rachel declared hugging grandma.

Letting go of Rachel the  eyes that looked so much like my own focused on me. "Andy my little troublemaker " grandma chuckled. "At your birth I saw your future. I knew you would leave Weston and Perta someday to be a queen. I bought you a ruby that is as red as your hair. Don't forget to listen and learn from the people you meet. My dear you have always counted on your magic. Do not depend on the foresight but on what's in front of you" Grandma warned.

"Grandma this must have cost you a small fortune to make." I choked out looking at the ruby  necklace. The ruby was made into a crystal pendant with a silver chain attached to it.

Rachel's necklace was oval and looked pricier with a gold chain. But the gem alone must have been quite a find for grandma. Sarah's necklace had a classic design with tiny pearls string together surrounding a large one in the middle.

Laura's necklace was a blue topaz stone with blue green beads making up the chain. The color brought out the design of a raven spreading its wings on the stone.

"Dear don't worry about the money its a goodbye present."

"Thanks Grandma "Sarah said in tears.

"It's nothing girls but these stones are special. They can contain magic in them. I know each of you are sad about leaving, so if you put your magic in each other stone it will form a connection between all of you."

"Grandma what are you talking about "Rachel ask.

"The stones can communicate  the wearer's emotions through the magic sealed inside."

"That sounds a little impossible to believe." Laura said in disbelief.

"It has been done before with the Tollar stone dear. That one stone allowed countless royals to feel their soul mate's personalities." Reminding us of the Tollar stone story. The witch by the name Tola created the stone for the royals by putting her own magic of foresight into the rock. If it's possible for her, maybe we could do the same.

"Grandma that was a hundred years ago. We don't know what she did to accomplish this said Laura looking skeptical of the idea.

"Legend said that the Tollar stone was made of witches combining their magic. It might happen if all of you do the same but to each other stones" theorized grandma looking at all of us. It was worth a try and Sarah seems to agree.

"Lets try it."

"It might not work why get our hopes up" Laura groaned looking at all of us.

"Or it could, and we can be there for your wedding like all of us desire. Don't dismiss this Laura it's our chance to stay close " argued Sarah.  At that my excitement peaked Laura's wedding was an event I didn't want to miss.

"This can make a bond for you that can be everlasting" commented grandma getting our little skeptic to agree. Laura stood up with the rest of us waiting for further instruction.

"And I must mention something to you all "grandma grinning at us with her mischievous stare. "Some of the power of the stones can transfer to another."

"What does that mean "Rachel questioned looking at grandma for her vague description?

"Nothing you need to know now "giggled grandma. "Girls we should get started" moving to a spacey area of the room. "Come here and form a circle in the middle."

We did what my grandma ordered and formed the circle between us. Holding my gem in the middle my friends did the same. "Now you must focus all your magic in the center and it will flow into the gems.  It should combine all your magic and each other together."

Shaking my head, I focused on my magic and allowed it to come out with the others. A great pressure soon filled the room with Rachel releasing her magic. Laura was next when a calmness filled the room and a yellow light joined Rachel's and mines. Sarah's magic came last as a blue light making a rainbow with all our magic's coming together

"Girls you are doing great but now is the difficult part. "Grandma advised as the light of our magic seem to be everywhere in the room. "Think of your friendship and the bond all of you have together. Try to let those feelings consume you and transfer the magic in the gems."

Feeling unsure I did what grandma said and thought of our childhood. Memories of us playing together and the times spent just joking around with each other. Feeling something tugging I saw the magic absorbing into the four stones. The rainbow light seems to get brighter and I felt a force hit me.
