Confrontation

"Rachel don't say that . "Pleaded Cody with him and Matthew strolling back in the room. Freshly clothes the two brothers looked better than  their previous appearance. Cody walked up to Rachel trying to touch her face, but she slapped his hand away.

"Stay away from me" she growled.

"Rachel you know you love me and once I get this pardon. We can finally start the life we always dreamed about." Cody said trying to sweet talk Rachel, but she only pushed him away.

"Those dreams were built on lies. "Looking him in the eyes and saying the words I knew she needed." I was blinded with loneliness when my father died. You made me feel important, but I was misled. That wasn't love and now I know what a criminal you are. I won't be with you" Rachel declared.

Cody's face paled, but Matthew grabbed his brother's shoulder. "That's enough brother father wants us to gather the girls and meet him in the city square."

"We aren't leaving with traitors like you "Laura barked holding onto my hand tightly. Feeling the numbness, I could sense Laura was scared but trying to remain calm.

"Yes, you are because our plans wont work without you" Matthew threaten bringing out his knife.

"And if you don't leave I will bring this entire building down on your heads" Mel warned her eyes glowing.

"Try it and I will do my best to kill you." Rachel indicated  standing her own eyes turning white as the ground shook. Both girls looked at each other ready for the other to make a move.

I was so focus on Rachel I missed Matthew lunging at Laura bringing a knife to her throat. After that I felt myself get slammed to the ground by Cody Walker.  Screaming Sarah tried to help but Matthew stopped all resistance. "Now let stop that and be peaceful before something happen to lovely Laura." He insisted tightening his hold on Laura as she tried to free herself.

Glaring Rachel  backed away for Mel. Sarah and I moved to stand beside her trying to be submissive seeing our defeats Matthew smiled .

"Now that we realize who's in charge. I want Andy and Sarah to stand in front of me just in case the nobles double-cross us." Doing as he commanded Sarah and I stood in front of Matthew as we moved out of the door. A strong smell of rotten fish hit me when we got outside. Blinking at the daylight I realize we must have been unconscious through the night. Looking at the fish market during the day it was crowded. Citizens scrambled for goods and sellers pushed their food to customers. Matthew looked worried as more than one person saw the knife he was holding. Alarmed someone alerted the city guards as we were swarmed in minutes.

A city guard immediately approached but Matthew hiss. ""Don't raise your weapons or the girl dies." Grabbing Laura's neck and letting the knife cut into her skin.

Someone must have recognized Laura as shouts yelled out. "Hurt the future queen and all of Perta will be hunting you."

"They already are" grunted Rachel earning hateful scowls from Cody which she ignored.

"That will not happen with Laura by our side. Now get out of our way." Cody ordered to the man. He hesitated before doing what Cody wanted. People averted from our path gawking at us as we walked out of the marketplace. Evergreen during the day was busy and bustling but the attack must have slowed business.

"What are you going to do with the queen" said one man who was brave enough to speak. He was one of the few guards that kept pace with us. He was around my father's age, but his stature was muscular. I bet if it came down to it this man could take Matthew and Cody on with ease.

"Laura is going to help us gain our freedom "Cody answered leading us through the streets. We were in front of the castle gates and  I could see our group assembled with Tim waiting on us.
