You began to drift back into consciousness. You were facing slightly up towards a red ceiling. The room was dimly lit, with one of the only sources of light beaming directly down onto you. Your eyes began to hurt with the sudden assault on your senses. To ease the pain, you looked down. Only to find yourself strapped to the stand you were leaning on. You tried to pull your hands out of the restraints with no success.
You were fully awake now and could see your surroundings much better. You looked up from your cuffed wrists to see the man in black. He was sitting down, staring right at you. Your heart jumped in your chest. Now you could see his mask had small red lines glowing through the cracks. Like fire about to burst through the seams. What is he?
After a long silence, you finally spoke.
"Where am I?" Is all you could think to say."You're my guest." Was his answer.
You were taken aback by this response. It didn't answer your question at all. You decided to let it go instead of putting up a fight so soon. Besides, there wasn't much you'd be able to do to protect yourself in this situation. You didn't want to provoke this beast.
So instead, you decided to ask a different question, one that would have a fairly simple answer. "Who are you? What's your name?"
He stood up and began to slowly creep towards you. His massive build put you on edge. He towered even further over you as he got closer.
"My name is Kylo Ren. I'm the Supreme Leader of the First Order." His slightly robotic voice boomed from under the helmet. After a short pause he cocked his head to the side and spoke again. "What's yours?"
"Kylo Ren." You looked down and said to yourself. You wanted to see how it felt coming out of your mouth. After days of wondering who this man was, you final knew. But there were still so many questions, too many.
You noticed him coming closer to you now and remembered he asked you a question. He wanted to know your name.
Should I tell him? Should I make up a fake one? You pondered the consequences of lying to him. Would it be worth it?
As if he could read your mind, he spoke up.
"Either you tell me, or I get it my way. Don't make this hard on yourself."His words sent a shiver down your spine. You had no intention of finding out what he meant by that.
You held your voice steady as you looked into the slit in his helmet where his eyes would be. "Yvonne Bala."
You were studying his mask. Wondering what could possibly hide beneath it. As you thought about who Kylo Ren was below the mask, he took a step back. He brought his gloved hands up to the sides of his helmet and you heard a click, and then it was off.
Your heart skipped a beat when you saw his face. You were in awe. You began to study his features. He was young, probably only a few years older than yourself. His eyes were dark, but there was a hint of light shining through. His black hair was neatly cut just above his shoulders. He had pale skin with full, pink lips. The look on his face was serious. You both stayed still, just looking at each other.
You couldn't take the silence anymore and decided to break it. All your questions came pouring out at once.
"What do you want from me? Why am I here? What's 'The First Order'? Where am I?" After looking down, you asked your final question, "Why am I in restraints?"
With a swift wave of his hand, your wrists were free. You looked down, puzzled, how did he do that?
"Yvonne, we're going for a walk. I'll tell you everything you want to know soon enough."
With that, he grabbed your arm, pulling you off the stand. His large hand completely engulfed your upper arm. His grip was strong enough to keep you on track but gentle enough not to hurt.
His voice sounded human without the mask on. It matched his face and stature well. His deep voice was strong, making you willingly obey his wish and walk with him.
"Where are we going?" You looked up at him as he took a left out of the room where you were being held.
"You ask too many questions." He kept his gaze ahead as he spoke. So, you decided to do the same.
What is this place? You thought to yourself as your eyes took in the sight in front of you. The floors were a shiny black tile. There were strips of lights on the walls, they had an eerie blue tint to them. The walls themselves weren't straight, they were at an angle to be wider towards the ceiling. How strange.
A tug on your arm told you to walk faster. His large strides made it difficult for you to keep up, but you tried your best.
Another turn led you to a hangar. It was huge. Men in white armor stopped the second they spotted their Supreme Leader. He didn't bat an eye as he kept his focus on the space in front of him.
"Who are they?" You asked as you turned your head to watch them as you passed.
"Stormtroopers." He said this without even a glance in your direction.
"Cool name, very catchy." You looked up at him hoping for a slight change in his expressionless face, but he didn't budge. You didn't really expect to get a reaction but it was worth a shot.
In the middle of the room was the same plane you had seen the night before. It was huge. It's wings were standing straight up now. It must be broken, you thought as you made your way to the front of it.
A ramp was leading up into the plane, which Kylo Ren began to climb with you at his side. A loud noise made you turn around to see that the ramp was rising up to seal the exit shut.
The second the plane was sealed, he let go of your arm. The spot he was holding turned cold and you wished he hadn't let go. He began to walk up to the cockpit. You decided to do the same. Once you made your way to the place he was standing, you looked out the giant window to see the stormtroopers walking around the hangar in groups. They looked so powerful in their flawless uniforms.
The closer you looked, you saw that they had guns, strange guns. They were black and white, with a single red light on them. They were larger than a pistol, but shorted than a shotgun. You'd never seen anything like it.
Your attention switched to Kylo Ren as he began to press some buttons and flip some switches, causing the plane to begin to rise off the ground. This caught you off guard, making you stumble backwards into the seat behind you. The plane spun around to face a giant window. On the other side was something you didn't expect. Space.
Stars were scattered across the dark expanse in front of you. Leaving you breathless to marvel at the beauty in its simplicity.
