4 Apologies

Jaedon fixed up (Y/n)'s room with the help of Kurt as (Y/n) was still asleep, Hank also came to fix the door. He didn't ask any questions because he could feel the tension so once the door was fixed he left to his office.

"So, you touching her forehead and back puts her to sleep?"

"Kind of. It's two pressure points that have been ingrained into her that she showed me so I can easily calm her down."

"Ah, that's helpful."

They continued cleaning up the room in silence until Kurt broke it with a daring question.

"Why didn't she kill me?"

Jaedon looked up at him with a serious look on his face, debating how to put his answer together.

"Honestly... I'm not sure. A scream like that usually kills the person; maybe you survived because you're a mutant or because you weren't close enough. I couldn't tell you."

Kurt nodded along and looked down at (Y/n). He looked back up at Jaedon and saw Peter staring at them from her doorway.

"Peter?"

"What in God's name did you two do here?"

"Very funny, Peter. She had a breakdown and we're cleaning it up."

"Jaedon, I wanted to apologize for not calling for you. I guess I wasn't really thinking about it. I just..." He looked back down at her, "I just wanted to help her."

After some time cleaning up, (Y/n) shot up in her bed, panting and sweating, Jaedon rushed to her side to calm her down. Kurt stepped out and made Peter walk with him.

"What happened in there, man?"

"She... she was crying in the bathroom and I wanted to help her, but she screamed and my ears started bleeding-"

"Wait just a minute, she made your ears bleed with a scream?!"

"Jaedon said it should've killed me... her screams are her power and the volume of them determine the effects they have on people nearby."

"Well, why didn't it kill you then?"

"He thinks it's because I'm a mutant or I wasn't close enough to her."

"Damn, well you're lucky then."

Back in (Y/n)'s room, Jaedon explained what happened and (Y/n) explained her breakdown.

"I just couldn't stop thinking about them... I haven't had a breakdown in so long..."

"I know, (Y/n), I know. But you need to be careful. Can you stand?"

"Not yet. I'm still dizzy."

"It's okay, just breathe."

"Did... did I hurt him? Kurt?"

"A little, but he's still up and moving."

"Good... I tried not to kill him..."

"Wait... you had control, but still screamed?"

"I didn't have control, per se but there was a little voice in my head telling me not to scream... but I did anyway. That little voice saved his life though. I didn't scream as loud as I was going to."

"Well, that's good, I suppose."

(Y/n) moved to stand, and with the help of Jaedon, walked out to the cafeteria. Jaedon helped her walk to the cafeteria, avoiding other students, and most of the teachers until Hank called for them.
