Hank dismissed the students and everyone headed out of the training room and went off in different directions throughout the school. Peter ran up to Kurt, trying to get his attention, but Kurt just teleported away. It had been months since the incident with Jaedon and (Y/n). Kurt barely started training again earlier that week. He avoided people as best as he could and hadn't talked to anyone except Hank, and he only talked to Hank about training. Whenever he teleported away, he always went to the forest and the lake, sitting by the water and watching the sunset, alone. He walked through the forest and avoided spending time in the school as much as possible, only coming back to eat, train, and sleep. He didn't attend classes anymore, but Hank never forced him.

"Hey, bud."

Kurt froze and turned to see Peter and Penny, standing a few feet behind him.

"What?"

"Just checking on you."

"How are you doing? You spend a lot of time out here."

"It's peaceful..."

"Would you prefer we leave?"

Kurt slowly shook his head and they walked over to him, tapping him on the back and smiling at him. Reassuring that it would be okay. Together they walked to the lake and just relaxed, staying silent for the most part and just enjoying the beauty, as Kurt and (Y/n) used to. The sun set and the sky turned to (Y/n)'s favorite combination of pinks, oranges, and reds. Kurt sighed as he observed the cotton candy skies above him. Peter and Penny reassured him again and headed back to the school. Kurt spent a little while longer at the hill, just enjoying the peace and quiet. He missed his beloved everyday and always thought about her. He even had dreams about her, hoping everyday that this was just some nightmare and he'd wake up and see her in the halls of the school. But, he knew in his heart that this was real; as badly as he wanted it not to be, he knew.

"Oh (Y/n)... whatever happened to our plan? I wish I went in instead of sending Jaedon... If I had only known..."

He brought his knees to his chest and started to sob heavily, wrapping his tail around himself. Then, there were footsteps behind him and he jerked into a prepared stance to fight.

"It's just me, Kurt, no need to be alarmed."

"Hank... you've never come out here before."

"I just wanted to see the sunset, see if it's as beautiful as you and (Y/n) always said it was."

Kurt let out a soft chuckle and nodded, looking back over at the sunset and the school in front of it.

"It'll take some time."

"I know... I just keep thinking it's some... wild nightmare."

Hank let out a soft chuckle and sat down next to Kurt, "Everyone wishes it's a dream."

"How did you get over it?"

"You never get over it. You just have some better days. Believe me I still think about everyone I've lost over the years."

"When does it get easier?"

"I wish I could tell you. It never truly gets easier. There are just some better days and some worse days. Since it was semi-recent, it'll take some time before the better days roll in."

"How did you deal with it at first?"

"Well, at first I drank for a bit. I highly don't recommend that. Then, I just found ways to keep myself busy. I wanted revenge at first, but I had a change of heart. Is there anything that you want to do?"

"...N-no... Nothing... I just want her back..."

"It'll be like that for a while and I don't blame you. But eventually, you'll have to work on moving on. Grieving is normal and natural, but there comes a point where you have to be stronger. Again, it'll take some time, but it will happen."

Kurt nodded to Hank and they stood up together. They walked back to the school in a comfortable silence and went their separate ways. Kurt made his way to his room, avoiding everyone as best as possible. He walked in, closed and locked the door, and collapsed in bed. Drawing small circles in the sheets with his finger. He laid back and stared up at the ceiling, always wondering if she was watching over him. Then, he truly realized that she wouldn't want him to be like this. She would want him to be with his friends, move on, train, and fight, just live his life. He sighed, knowing it wasn't as easy as flipping a switch. But he nodded to himself, knowing he wanted to be better, for her. He went to the bathroom and hopped in the shower, spending his time just relaxing under the hot water. Tomorrow, he will do his best to be better. He dried off and changed, collapsing in his bed and looking up at the ceiling.

"For you, Mein engel."

He turned off the lights and got under the sheets, getting comfortable and drifting to sleep, knowing tomorrow and everyday after that, he would do his best to be better, for no other reason than for his beloved.
