Captain Rex x Reader

Fives Sets You Up

This is set in the Star Wars Universe.

(Your POV)

As you were a Jedi commander for only a few months, you were unsure when your master Anakin Skywalker asked you to lead a stealth mission with the 501st, but you felt a little better when you realized you had Rex with you. A lot of your work had to be done in walking long distances on the ground, and it couldn't all be done in one day. When the sun set, your clone battalion started setting up camp in order to get rest to continue the mission the next day. Thankfully Rex was able to head up most of the responsibilities while you worried about getting yourself some rest.

However, any thought of relaxation was cut short when you saw Fives walking towards you.

"Commander!" Fives said with a big smile. He held up his hand in order to give you a high five- which was sort of his signature move at this point. "How is your first time leading a mission going?" He says as he stands next to you, resting his elbow on your shoulder as you two look at the rest of the clones setting up.

"I thought it would be a lot worse, but the Captain has really been saving my skin." You both look over to where Rex was chastising Hardcase and Jesse for playing with rocks instead of helping. You could feel the excitement in Fives whenever you mentioned Rex in conversation. It seemed Fives had picked up on the crush you had on your captain. For some reason, he was really good at picking up on that kind of stuff.

Suddenly, he put both of his hands on your shoulders from behind.

"You should really go thank him." Fives said, giving you a little push forward. You could tell he was having a hard time containing himself. You decided to entertain Fives and walk over to the captain to thank him for his work.

"Hey, Rex," you said, walking up to the three clones as he was finishing reprimanding Hardcase and Jesse.

"No more slacking off, you two. Now set up some more tents." Rex said to the two clones as they shuffled off. Then he turned towards you.
"Commander." He nodded.

"I just wanted to thank you for how you've stepped up during this mission. It's my first time being the highest in command and I'm really glad I have you here with me." You said to him. You see a red tint come into his cheeks a little bit.

"Just doing my duty, sir."

"Rex, you can call me (Y/N) when we're alone." You said, giving him a friendly smile.

He smiles back and his shoulders relax a bit as well. "Sure thing, Commander."

(Time skip)

(Rex's POV)

I'm glad I get to help out the Commander on this mission. I've seen how much she's matured even though the few months she's been serving with the 501st. She's a very skilled leader, but I've noticed she gets nervous about her own abilities, which is why I want to do as much as I can to help her not worry so much. I think I've grown to like the Commander a little too much.

"Is the Commander giving you a hard time?" Fives asks me as he walks up. "She left you with all the dirty work." He laughs.

"Nah, I'm happy to help wherever I can. But it looks like the boys are pretty much set from here." I said back to him.

Fives smiled "Perfect. I found this spot earlier when we were looking where to set up our tents. Come with me, it's pretty cool." He motioned for me to come with him, leading us through the trees to a little clearing on the edge of a cliff. He sat down and patted the ground next to him. I decided this was break time, so I could relax a little bit, so I sat down next to him on the ground.
