You stood up in the line of clones at Kamino as you and your squad were being examined by officers. Of course, you were a female soldier- taken from an unknown planet by someone unknown and raised here as a clone. The only thing you were left with was your real name, (Y/N), but you never used it. It wasn't really fitting for a clone name. You knew you stood out, but your squad was always really supportive of you, so you never felt out of place until now.

Now, the captain of the 501st was eyeing each clone in order to choose more troopers to join the his ranks. You knew this particular Captain was very selective, but that's all you knew about him. You were suddenly hyper-aware of your differences. First of all, you were about six inches shorter than the others, and your modified clone armor made it obvious that you were different. Your armor was still shiny and new like the others standing by you, but you stood out like a sore thumb. When the captain's eyes landed on you, you felt the blood drain from your face and the sweat form on your brow. You were happy to be wearing a helmet.

"Who's this?" The captain asked your sergeant.

"That's Shorty. Highly skilled and very obedient, sir. Great shot, too." Sander said to the intimidating clone captain.

"Well, I understand the nickname," He continued. "Show me what he can do." He stepped back and Sander nodded to a Kaminoan in a control room who made the environment shift to show some targets.

This will be easy. It's just target practice. You were given a blaster and easily made your shots in one try, but there was still one remaining when the captain stopped you and said "This time, no blaster." You panicked a little, but it's not unlike your usual training. You bounded through the environment using a ledge to help you reach the remaining target. It only required a light touch to go off, but you kicked off the ledge and tackled the target to the ground.

You looked up to see the captain standing in front of you, but it was hard to tell what he was thinking. There was something different about him than the rest of the clones, but you couldn't figure out what it was. Your heard started to beat rapidly, wondering what he was going to say. You scrambled to your feet and stood straight in front of him, having to look up because you were so much shorter.

"Welcome to the 501st, Shorty." He said. "The name's Rex, but you'll call me Captain or Sir."

"Sir yes sir!" you said loudly, saluting. Thank goodness you had a voice modifier in your helmet, or you would have had to answer some uncomfortable questions just then.

"At ease, soldier. Pack your things, we'll be off first thing tomorrow." And with that, he turned on his heels and walked back to the rest of the cadets.

The rest of the day felt like a blur as you daydreamed about being in the 501st. What an honor it will be to serve with General Skywalker! You may even get to meet General Kenobi! However, neither of those were as intriguing as the mysterious captain.

Since it was your last night on Kamino, you decided to go on a stroll with your helmet on. Since you looked so different from the clones, you felt a sense of belonging when you wore a clone helmet. Men you've known your whole life greeted you in the hallways and congratulated you on your acceptance into the 501st.

Your thoughts about your future consumed you until you found yourself walking into an empty control room. Except, it wasn't empty.

"Oh, hello there, Shorty." Said Captain Rex.

"Oh! Captain-Sir, I-I'm sorry!" You saluted him. "I'll f-find another room!"

"No, no, don't bother. I want to get to know my new recruits a bit more. Come over here and sit down." He said, gesturing you over to an empty chair near him. You nervously sat down, wondering how the captain will act towards you.
