You sighed and reached up to grab the hand of Captain Rex, who pulled you up into the LAAT. With your other hand you clipped your lightsaber to your belt.

This was a hard battle, and there was still so much left to do. Though, none of it required any more fighting.

You and your clone troops were all but overtaken by masses of separatist droids, but Rex and the 501st swooped in and practically rescued what remained.

After you regained your composure, you looked at Rex.

"Thanks for saving my skin back there." You said, putting your hands on your hips.

"Just doing my job, General." He said with a happy-sounding tone of voice- though you couldn't quite tell because his face was obscured by the helmet he wore.

Suddenly the ship hit some kind of turbulence, and you lost your balance. It had been barely half a second before Rex used his arm to catch you by your waist, bringing your two bodies extremely close. Your hands landed on his shoulders, putting the two of you an a very compromising pose- at least by the Jedi code's jurisdiction.

You were almost in a position of two ballroom dancers. If this were a different situation, the following events could have played out differently.

You could imagine the scene- a large, empty ballroom on Coruscant lit by the passing ships in the night sky. Captain Rex appears in anything but his weathered armor- likely wearing a simple, smooth-looking suit. Whatever you're wearing is irrelevant- he would look good enough for the both of you.

Your eyes drifted to the helmeted clone heads turned towards the pair of you, and you were snapped back to reality, quickly straightening up and muttering a quick "thank you" to the captain. What you wouldn't give to see his face right now. He's lucky to have his head covered.

The only faces with expressions you could see were the famed Jedi knight and his spunky padawan- Anakin and Ahsoka. They looked at you like children look at each other on the playground- likely coming up with some crazy romance that would never come true.

You locked eyes with Ahsoka, whose smile widened. An orange finger lifted and beckoned for you to join her and her master in the back of the LAAT. Thankfully, Rex couldn't have seen any of that business. You only hoped that he did not turn around when you went to go join them.

You shuffled swiftly over to the pair, giving them some kind of overly inquisitive look, like you could have no clue what they're thinking. But of course, you did have a clue.

Their eyes were locked to each other- probably deciding which one of them got to break the news to you. They both nodded, then straightened up. Anakin started to open his mouth, and-

"Do you have the hots for Rexter?" Ahsoka blurted out in a whisper. You prayed no one else on the ship could have heard that.

Anakin's face wore a look of utter betrayal. Ahsoka offered him an apologetic smile before returning her attention to you.

"We'll talk later...." was all you could say. The Jedi's eyes widened, and they both flashed you a thumbs up.

Finally you were back at the base. You could escape this awkward scenario- for now.

This "base" was actually the shell of an abandoned village of the planet you're on. Thankfully the fighting is over, which just means relief is all that's left to do here- though that can take an indefinable amount of time. As long as Rex is there, you'd hope it goes as long as possible.
