This is Book Two to the You Are My Sunshine series! This is a Darrel Curtis fan fiction. Newly engaged couple, Mack and Darrel, run into some problems. Can they survive it? Or will they end it?
I woke up in my old room. I was really confused until I remembered. It's my wedding day! I jumped up from bed and ran to get breakfast. I already miss Dar. Every morning he kisses my head and says, 'good morning little sunshine'. I miss him but it'll be all worth it later!
The wedding would start at 2. It was September 19, 1966. Just like we planned. My mom already had breakfast made and Zoey slept over to be with me.
We sat around all day until it was time for me to get ready. It was the most excited I've ever been. Yet the most scared.
I got into my gown and did my hair and makeup. I came out to show my mom and she was sobbing. I hugged her. My mom has grown to love me more. She never really cared when I was younger but she does now which is nice.
We got into into my car and my mom drove us to the church. The boys were already in their room. Steve waited for me and we went into the girls side. I hugged him.
After what felt like years we heard music start and it was our time. I felt like I was definitely going to throw up, but I held it down. My mom left and so did Zoey. Now it was just me and Steve. I wrapped my arm in his and we started down the aisle. I saw Darrel. The love of my life was right in front of me.
I saw him start crying and so did I. This was everything right here. Me and Steve reached the end and he kissed my cheek. He was crying and went by the other boys. Darry came down and helped me up the altar.
He was staring at me just like the first time he saw me, when we said I love you, when he proposed, it was that same goofy awe.
(Darrel's POV)
I was nervous out of my mind. All I wanted was to see my little sunshine. She always calms me down. Just being near her always calms me.
I walked down the aisle to see Soda and Pony sobbing like babies. Dal even looked like he might. Johnny was definitely going to cry.
Then I saw her. She looked even more amazing than I ever could've imagined. She looked like an angel, like a princess. That was my sunshine. I just wanted to run and spin her around.
I could tell she was crying too. I collected her from Steve and we went up to the altar.
Father Bob went along with the ceremony. We couldn't stop looking at each other. She's just so perfect. We said our vows and cried and laughed.
Then the priest came to the best part. "Do you Darrel Shayne take this woman to be your wife, in sickness and in health, to cherish and admire, for better or worse as long as you shall live?" I smiled so bright.
"I do."
"And do you Mackenzie Marie Star take this man to be your husband, in sickness and in health, to cherish and admire, for better or worse as long as you shall live?" She smiled at me.
"I do."
"Then by the power vested in me, I pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride." I pulled Mack in by her waist and kissed her long and slow. The girl of my dreams is finally mine.
(Mackenzie's POV)
Me and Darry kissed and I melted. This man is mine. He is my sunshine!
