(Mackenzie's POV)
Today the results would be in. I was terrified. It's really stressing me. One of my biggest fears was not being able to have a baby. And it has been since I was 10.
Darry's been doing a great job keeping our minds off it anyway. The business is taking off really fast. He's been there quite a lot making sure everything is working. If I were to have any boss I'd want it to be him, he just has a natural sense of leadership. He makes you want to follow and he's very involved.
They said we would get a call around 4:00pm, it's currently 3:57pm. We were sitting waiting. Surprisingly all of the gang was there to support us. I knew they loved us but I didn't think they would all be here. Usually one or two are away.
I was holding Darry's hand with my head on his shoulder as we talked to the group.
RING!
We all stopped talking. Darry slowly picked up the phone. "Yes this is Darrel. She's with me right now." The person who I assume was the doctor was talking and Darry gave a little, yeah, every few seconds.
Then I saw my worst fear put into reality. Darry's face dropped. I instantly freaked. He sadly hung up the phone and turned to me.
(Darrel's POV)
We were all talking about cars and other things. The phone rang and I picked it up.
"Hi is this Darrel and Mackenzie Curtis?" A nurse asked.
"Yes this is Darrel. She's with me right now." I answered.
"Okay this is the fertility clinic. I will be transferring you to Dr. Lang." I just waited.
A male voice came into the phone. "Darrel?"
"Yes." He sighed.
"Well, we have good and bad news." He said.
We talked for while and I listened to all the advice he was giving to me. Then he said that was all and told me to call with any questions I had. We said goodbye and I turned to my little sunshine.
"Mack, want to talk in here or our room?" She put on a smile but I could see how much pain there was behind it.
"Let's go to our room." I nodded and we took hands going into our room.
This was going to be the hardest thing I'll ever do.
(Mackenzie's POV)
We decided to go to our room. Darry sighed and I instantly knew this wasn't good.
"Just tell me." I said.
He nodded and continued. "They said it's not impossible but there aren't the best odds. They said we can try but there will be the risk of a miscarriage or still birth." My world collapsed.
This was my biggest fear. I had always wanted my own baby. And I know Darry did too.
"Well we should still try right?" He nodded and hugged me close.
"If we can't get pregnant we could always adopt." He suggested.
"Yeah, any kid will be ours, biologically or not." He smiled and kissed my head.
"Should I tell the gang?" He asked.
"Sure. Is it okay if I go to sleep?" I yawned.
"Yeah pretty girl, I'll be back in a minute." He left to tell the boys and I climbed into bed.
After a few minutes he came back in and slipped into bed trying not to wake me. I was up but I don't think he knew.
I snuggled into his chest and he chuckled. Then I couldn't hold it any longer. I started to cry a little and he just held me tighter. He always seemed to make my world brighter.
