*A Few Days Later*
"I think we might have just figured out what we need to do," I widely smile at Karen as the effects of our joint spell washes away. "I think that we have figured out the spell that will take out the Stick."
"Really?" Karen looks up at me with wide eyes. "You think so?"
"There's no other combinations to do, and that one just felt right," I nod a few times. "That is going to destroy that Stick, and then peace will finally descend on this realm."
Karen and I have been working hard for a few days now to go through all the possible joint spells that make sense for us to have me take the Stick's power and for her to destroy the object. After what seemed like dead end after dead end, we finally reached the last possible spell, and fate would have it that it is the one we need. It is the one that will be able to destroy the one thing that has been keeping us from reaching peace.
"We have to tell the King," Karen bounces on her toes. "We have to tell Sir Stan, and then everyone in the village. This is going to change all of our lives!"
I giggle, watching my sister dance around the small flower patch with such pure joy that I have been savoring in the little bursts that I get. Pure joy that I didn't think was possible for myself mere months ago, but I know that time does heal all wounds. Time, and the fact that dark magic really is the perfect tool for broken people. While I may not being thinking of losing my life to take the Stick's power, mainly because Stan has been pounding it into my mind that he will not let that happen, but because I want to be able to use all that power. I want to feel all the energy running through my veins. I want certain people to fear me. I want to be more than I am now. I'll stay in this realm, but I won't be the same person once I absorb the Stick, and I am wholly okay with that.
"What's going on?" Stan chuckles as he walks up to us. "It's almost like you two have cracked the code, or you just want to act like overly excited girls for some reason."
"We did it, Sir Stan," Karen jumps in front of the boy. "We are going to take the power from the Stick. We've finally figured out how to do it."
"She's telling the truth before you exclaim that it can't be true," I grin, crossing my arms. "I'm positive what we just practiced will be what we have to do in order to destroy that damned stick."
Stan smiles, "Someone needs to go tell the King so we can inform Clyde and his troops."
"I'll go!" Karen exclaims before rushing off.
I shake my head, "I could have told you that she was going to do that."
"She is the future Queen, so she should be the one to give him news like that," Stan walks closer to me. "Are you ready to take the power?"
"Never been more ready."
"I mean, do you think you will be able to handle that much power? Do you think that maybe you should give some of it to someone else?"
I furrow my eyebrows, "I've never really thought about doing that, but I don't think that would be possible. It would have to be another dark magic user, and there's not enough time to decide who should get some power. I'm the most powerful elf in this kingdom, and I am the most powerful being in this realm. If I can't handle this much power, then no one else can. It has to be me, Stan. No one else but me. I'll be able to take it. Trust me, I've done a lot these last few months that didn't seem possible when I started out, but my confidence grew every day."
