Chapter Sixteen

Audrey had invited Ray for dinner at her house. she was pretty excited for it. for the fist time her boss was coming to her house to visit her. she felt like any other employee would feel:privileged. he was the owner of such an esteem company it was a big deal for her. she had to arrange everything, everything should be perfect. he should not be disappointed at all. she made sure everything was according to his taste. the kids behaved and Chris made sure that she would relax as every time something like this would happen to her, she was always freak out about it. 

finally the special night arrived. so far it was all good and stable. he entered in, praised the home, sat down at the dining table and then chatted with the kids. he was much interested in Robbie since he was big boy now so he kept asking him about his future prospects. Robbie himself wasn't sure about his future but he still showed interest. they were having dinner and Ray kept praising the food and how lucky Chris was to have a wife like her. as he was talking to Chris, he revealed the little secret he was hiding from two weeks "so how is the job hunt going Chris? i heard that you've been fired from your job Meyers told me. i said to him that he did a mistake by firing you i mean you were the best employee he had. " Chris tried to stop him from talking about this but he kept on going, pretending to show concern "no, no he should be ashamed he'll never find a guy like you." 

Audrey heard this all but didn't reacted in front of her boss. this was suppose to be a fun night so she continued doing what she was doing to keep it normal. soon he left and she was broken completely. she just couldn't believe that he would hide something like this from her and also lie about it. this could mean only thing: argument

he dared to ask her "are you mad at me?"

she said wiping her tears "no why would i be mad at you when i am getting to know that my husband has been out of his job from almost two weeks and i didn't know a single thing about it. how could you do this to me? how could you lie to me about this?"

he said in his defence "i didn't wanted to tell you because i didn't wanted you to worry about it but just hear me out i am going to get another job in fact i have applied for some i will get another job and then we would be able to get this behind us."

she said "everything is not that easy as it sounds Chris getting another job is not an easy thing you have to put yourself out there but you just won't understand now would you because if you did you would have told me about this i could have helped you."

he said "what do you mean you feel like i can't  a job on my own just because you work at a higher postition doesn't mean that i am a loser get it." and then he stormed while she kept sobbing in her room.
