"I THINK IT'S ABOUT TIME WE HAD THAT TALK."
Adelyn's jaw dropped when she spotted the corpse on the table of the Animal Clinic. The Argents had lost one of their hunters and brought it to Deaton to investigate. "They're coming back, so we don't have much time."
Scott moved forwards as the man started shuffling through drawers to find something to help him heal. When he pulled a bottle out, Scott tugged the hem of his shirt upward. "What is that?"
"Rubbing alcohol. You don't want it to get infected, do you?" Deaton questioned rhetorically, raising his eyebrows. Scott squinted at him, confused.
"He's got a point." Adelyn pointed at him, not looking away from the body as she examined it. Scott shook his head, dumbfounded by all the new information. He didn't think that their wounds could still get infected. Addy moved closer to the body, noticing just how many claw marks this thing had left on him.
She had a strong feeling that the murderous gecko was behind this.
Deaton wet a cotton ball with some of the rubbing alcohol. "You'll heal the same. Just not as quickly because of Derek."
"Does that have to do with his new found pack members or just him being an Alpha?" Addy questioned, finally tearing her gaze away from the table to look at the two of them.
"Well, both. It would take longer if he didn't have a pack, but now it will take even longer because he does." Deaton explained.
"Great." The girl mumbled, looking back down.
"Okay, how do you know all of this?" Scott finally asked, he had wanted to know since the night at the school. Deaton had always dodged his questions, like when he had offered him a raise.
"It's a long story." He answered shortly, before continuing. He started to cover Scott's wound with a bandage. "What I can tell you is that I know about your kind. Your kind, I can help. This, this is something different." He finished covering the wound and looked toward the body.
"Do you know what did it?"
"No, but the Argents will. And this is the crucial part. They'll have some kind of record or book. It'll have descriptions, histories, notations of all the things they discovered." He responded, both the betas eyes widening.
"All the things? How many different things are there?" Deaton didn't get the chance to reply when they heard a car approach. Scott and Adelyn hid, listening in on the conversation. They tried to stay completely still as the bell jingled, signifying that the Argents had come inside.
"I'm started to think I need to buy a more prominent closed sign." Deaton was acting as if he had been in the process of looking at the body, turning to look at the hunters.
