It was the second day on our way to vegas and I was online. Much to my dismay, Jason still hadn't taken down our fake sex tape from the J - list. Asshole. I picked up the phone to call my friend Mel.
"Bethanny," she said. "How are you?"
"I've been better. Jason is pissing me off."
"Oh...something new I hear."
"The tape is still up, " I said. "I need a new revenge plot."
"You can't beat him. He doesn't care about anything so you can't win. All you do is waste your time."
"But... he ruined you. He humiliated me."
"Bethanny... Jason didn't ruin me. I was sick before his pranks. Yes, his behavior was a catalyst for my suicide attempt. But healthy people don't kill themselves over a breakup."
"Mel... he's the devil. I have to teach him a lesson."
"Beth, if you want to win, you have to let it go. That's the best revenge, being happy."
"He won't care. He's still got his reputation and his pride."
"And at the end of day, he's still alone," Mel said. "I want better for you Beth. You need to date some nice guys. You haven't had a boyfriend since..."
"Don't say his name," I said. "I don't want to talk about him."
"Beth, it's fine. You fell in love and it was good. Just because he cheated doesn't mean you give up."
"He broke me," I said. "I really loved him. And then when he left, I spiraled and..."
"Slept with half the football team and had to change schools. I remember the story. Beth, you need a healthy relationship. And this Jason stuff is bad for you. Just because Buck broke your heart..."
"Don't say his name!" I said sharply. "Sorry, it's that name. Buck Covington. What an ass."
"You need to forgive Buck. He was fifteen. He screwed up."
"Whatever," I said."I'm over it. Besides, his family was so formal and obnoxious."
"Well, being the governor's son isn't as fun as being a Rockstar's daughter. But Buck was a good guy. You need to let it go."
"I need to show Jason what he is worth," I said. "Which is nothing."
"I got to go Beth. Call me when you're not crazy anymore."
"That could be a while," I said sullenly as I refreshed the website. What can I say, I didn't let go easily.

Two hours later, our buses stopped at an arbys. I knew we needed lunch, but I also knew we'd spend the next hour watching my parents sign autographs before we got back on the bus. Aaron, of course, shadowed me closely as I walked in and ordered. The crowd ignored me bevaise they mostly loved Blake, she was a face people recognized. Even Bryan got asked by strangers for his participation in their selfies. But me, I blended in. Thank god, because I hated people.
I ordered my chicken salad wrap and a roast beef for Aaron, and we sat and waited. I saw Nolan Porter walking over, grinning.
"No one noticed me," he said as he sat down next to me. Aaron glared at Nolan, though I didn't know why.
"Hey," I said.
"So," Nolan said. "I need to bus with you guys today. Stephen and Gia, his wife, they need some time alone."
