"I bought you something, " Aaron said. He'd been in the gift shop while I explained to my parents why I was babysitting and ditching their show.
"A gift, for me?" I said, blushing.
"Look, I won't comment on your swim attire," he said. "But my sister is conservative. Her husband's like super catholic so bikinis are sort of...not something she'd want her son to see."
"Uh huh," I said. "I'm sure it's to protect your newphew. No part if you is embarassed that I'll catch you staring at my body in a bikini. "
"Don't even joke," Aaron said. "My sister already thinks we're hooking up."
"Oh, and how does the Catholic sister feel about that?"
"She wants to drag you back to Omaha and marry us off. Seriously, if people keep joking there's going to be rumors. And I don't want to get fired."
"I'll behave," I said. "But if the suit is pink, I'll kill you."
I grabbed the bag and opened it. A sleek black one piece was inside, and I smiled.
"It's simple but it's classy," I said. "You're a good shopper, Aaron."
"I tried," he shrugged.
"So we should get room service tonight after the pool. And get a kids movie - what would Diaz like?"
"It's don't know yet," Aaron sighed. "It's be been gone for some time. It didn't hit me before, how much I miss my family."
"Why didn't you just call your mom? When it all went bad, didn't you want to go home?"
"I felt guilty, " I said. "I promised my dad I'd honor my family, protect my sisters and mother. I couldn't even honor myself by living right. I screwed up."
"Oh," I sighed. "Everyone is human, Aaron. Trust me, I'm the most flawed one in the room. But you're never so far where your family is lost. I saw your sister, and she didn't look angry."
"Not to you..."
"Aaron, she looked worried. I bet your mom is worried too."
"I might call her..." Aaron said. "Would you mind?"
"No, go in my room," I said, pointing at the door. "I'll change in the bathroom. "
I walked in and wondered how he knew my size. He had sisters so maybe he knew more about girls then I realized. I pulled it on on and smiled, actually enjoying how it looked. I noticed how the swim suit actually plunged a little bit in the neckline and made chest look very voluptuous. I don't think Aaron intended that. I thought about Aaron's comment on rumors and decided to pull a t-shirt on until we got down to the pool.
I walked back out and heard Aaron laughing on the phone. That was good, I guess. There was a knock at the door and I opened it, smiling at little Diaz. Jennifer, Aaron's sister, and a tall Hispanic man were there with him.
"Hey guys," I said. "Aaron's on the phone but then we're all ready to swimming! Oh, and I have tickets for you both."
I grabbed them off the dresser and handed them over.
"I'm Daniel, " the man said. "Aaron's brother in law."
"Lovely to meet you," I said. "I'm Beth. I'm Aaron's client, but we're also friends."
"Friends," Jennifer smirked.
"Strictly platonic," I added.
The couple exchanged a glance. Jennifer handed me a list of phone numbers, along with a list of instructions on what to do in crazy scenarios. The door cracked open and Aaron popped out.
