SELIN POV
"Selin hanım, could you come and see if this is as you wanted?"
"Yaa Mert only Selin you know that already" – "I gave the head of constructors my biggest smile which he returned" – "Tamam lead the way"
We had officially began construction work the week before. We had presented the entire Yıldızlar file of designs to Yildirim bey and finally received the good to go. We had done a plan with Demir to only work with two renovations at the same time, so we could ensure we could always be supervising that things were going as planned.
I followed Mert outside, he wanted me to check if the material that had been brought for the wood details of the exterior walls was the same one I had requested.
"Bu mu?" – Mert asked me pointing at the wooden boards. I walked towards it and smiled; the wood was even nicer now that I had it in front of me.
"Evet bu, sağol Mert" – He nodded his head before joining Ayda. She was the engineer in charge of all renovations. She was an excellent professional, I was completely amazed at her and our work just fitted remarkably well. She was also such a nice girl, whenever I would come with a crazy idea, she would laugh with me and then really try to find a way to make it possible. Building a friendship with her had been so easy and fun, I was so glad I got to know her.
I observed the work being done, it was indeed working out beautifully and it put a smile in my face. Demir was going to be so pleased, this restaurant actually was the first design we came up with together and now we were seeing it coming true. There was still a lot to do, but we had a very hardworking team and I couldn't be happier at the results we were seeing.
My eyes roamed the place, there were so many people here, all running around to do their jobs... but I was looking for one person in particular. I found him near the trees of the back, he was surveying the blueprints... He was so so handsome with his constructor helmet, lips parted, fully focused... I could barely breath every time I looked at him and now I was seeing him so often, that I almost couldn't remember what breathing felt like. As if he felt my eyes on him, his gaze lifted eying around till he found me. We were far from each other, but distance couldn't prevent the sparks that arose every time our eyes met.
Since that night things had taken a different path for us. We hadn't talked about what happened then, but it hadn't been necessary. He had opened up to me, he had told me about his fears... and the rest I had understood from his eyes, from his touch. Demir had lived loss in the worst way and grew walls from it; but now I could see them, I could understand them...
So our relationship had changed, and we found ourselves enjoying the new normality we were building together. Though I couldn't deny it, I was still surprised by how many things had changed between us. He wasn't cold anymore, or distant, but rather warm and easy going. When we were at Artemim, he was still all boring rules falan filan, but now he would freely laugh at my jokes and wouldn't notice (or pretend to not notice) when I forgot the bey or hanım in my sentences. He wouldn't even get mad at me when I asked him how he was or how Aslı was, and he wouldn't push me away when I teased him about something... Yani, he wouldn't joke or break any rules himself, but he would let me do it for both of us and for me that was more than enough. One could say we had reached some kind of friendship... you know, a friendship where I'd be fantasizing about my friend kissing me every night... but a friendship still.
It was even more difficult when we were left alone. He had gotten this new habit of... staring at me. It didn't matter what we were doing, maybe it was working, maybe talking or even bickering, but I would glance at him only to find his eyes digging into mine... They always made me blush, always made me be restless on my feet. It felt deep and intimate, and if I looked I would just burn over and over again, but If I didn't, the blood in my veins would roar for him, telling me it wanted to burn and burn, as long as the fire was made out of him.
