Aurora's p.o.v.
I can't believe that I'm going to a ball! I, of all people is the least likely to dress up, lest of all attend a ball! Shaking my head, I slipped into the cute sky-blue dress Hazel bought me which suited me snugly. It was unbelievably soft and gorgeous, reflecting my blue eyes in a way that I looked so mature.
"Come on, Aurora. You're taking ages!" Rose huffed impatiently outside the door.
"Coming." I walked out, a bit self-conscious.
"Wow! You look great!" Hazel applauded happily.
"Umm, girls? I've never been to balls before, you know..." I rambled on but Rose cut me across.
"Shut up and let me do your make-up!"
My eyes widened in horror at the thought of putting up make-up. Looks like Autumn's feeling the same as me.
"What?! I hate make-up! I thought we're going for fun, not to attract boys?" Autumn groaned from her bed.
"Trust me, you'll regret if you don't let me and Rose style you up." Hazel said smugly as I reluctantly sat down in front of the dressing table.
"Just don't overdo it or I'll kill both of you." I gave in. The things I do for them!
Time passed in a flash and presto! Everyone was all dressed up. I looked at my friends. Autumn, with her natural beauty looked simply stunning with her flowing silver dress and delicate tiara. She had on faint touches of make-up that enhanced her pretty features. A regal gold ribbon was tied loosely by her side that looked perfect with her dress. After a lot of fuss, Hazel decided to let her soft wavy hair, which is currently a shade of dark brown, hang over her shoulders.
Rose, on the other hand, looked simply like a flower butterfly. The fresh flowers stitched meticulously complimented her pastel pink dress beautifully as her auburn hair was tied into a french braid. Her emerald green eyes seemed brighter today and she also wore minimal make-up.
Then I looked closely at Hazel, my first best friend. She was really hot in her light yellow dress that had a tinge of champagne. Her honeyed colour hair was plaited beautifully, Rose's masterpiece of course. She had on a little more make-up but instead of making her look like a devil, the eyeliners and blushers sharpened her features more, making them more prominent.
"You guys look gorgeous." I commented after scrutinizing them carefully.
"Well, you yourself look cute." Autumn pointed out.
"Yeah, just look at the mirror yourself!" Hazel smiled at me fondly, steering me forward. I turned and gasped audibly when the girls chuckled.
I couldn't believe the girl in the mirror was me! My raven-black curls trailed down until my back and the sky-blue dress matched my eyes perfectly. They did hold their promise after all as I still looked like me, but more grown up. I stared at my reflection, looking at how the dress emphasised my body curves. Blimey, it really seemed to be tailored especially for my height as it made me look cute, but at the same time matured. I really admire Hazel's taste.
"Enough staring over there. Let's get going! I simply can't stand another second standing here in these awful shoes!" Autumn jolted me out of my thoughts.
"Aut, they're heels! And they look impeccable on you!" Hazel groaned as Autumn flexed her sore feet in an un-ladylike way. Well, her polished silver high-heels certainly looked nice, but it was tad uncomfortable.
Giggling, I told her. "Being pretty has its pros and cons you know?"
She rolled her eyes and stalked towards the hall as Hazel struggled to control her heavy gown. The hall was amazing! Pure white snow crystals lined the hall and magnificent ice sculptors looked perfectly beautiful against the white backdrop. I gasped as the ceiling of the hall turned a shade of clear blue, sprinkling snowflakes down softly.
