"Let's go," a guard ordered as the door in front of us opened. I followed the kids in front of me, all of which I knew were under 18; I still don't understand why I wasn't floated all those years ago; about four to be exact.
In the room, there were chairs in rows; Kane, Chancellor Jaha, and Abby were in the room, watching as we found our seats. A man I've seen for earth skill when I was younger, Pike, was standing in the front of the room. I was being led by guards, my hands cuffed together in front of me. Guess they still don't trust me. I sat in one of the chairs at the front on the left side, the rest of the row empty. I sat in silence as a girl with dark brown, almost black hair, sat beside me.
"Welcome to earth skills," Pike said.
"It's been an hour since we passed the airplane wreckage," Jasper stated, looking at Lincoln's map. He, Clarke, and Octavia were in the back of the rover, and, as always, Bellamy and myself sat upfront. "Seeing as we're using a map without any distances, it could be days before we reach Luna's village."
"At least we know we're going in the right direction," Bellamy said, his eyes never leaving the road.
I leaned my head against the cool window, watching the rainfall as Jasper continued. "We're running out of daylight. We should stop in the sun and recharge the battery."
"What sun?" I asked. "We keep going until it dies."
"We keep going until we get to Luna," Octavia corrected.
After a few seconds, Jasper spoke. "This her?" Lincoln must have a picture of Luna in his book. Octavia answered with a "yes" and Jasper spoke again. "What do you think she's gonna say when we show up asking to put an AI in her head?"
No one said anything, and I exchanged a look with Bellamy.
"Lincoln said she helps those that are in trouble," Octavia said after a second. "She'll help us too."
Bellamy suddenly brought the rover to a stop in front of a fallen tree. Bellamy let out a sigh as Jasper commented something.
"You think she can help us find a better map?" He asked.
"Backtrack," Bellamy said. "Find somewhere where the trees aren't so bad--"
All our heads snapped to the back of the rover as Octavia opened the back door and climbed out into the rain.
"Hey," Bellamy called out, but the girl didn't listen.
I let out a small breath as I got out of the rover. "Guess we're going on foot."
Bellamy, Jasper, Clarke, and myself all got out of the rover and followed Octavia.
"Did anyone hear the part where I said it could be days?" Jasper called out.
Octavia stopped a few feet away from the rover at the bottom of a hill. "Stop." The sound of water flowing filled our ears. "You hear that?"
Clarke's eyes widened slightly. "Water."
As soon as the word left her mouth, Octavia spun around and ran up the hill. I followed the girls to the top of the hill, just as Bellamy spoke.
"Eyes sharp, they could be hostile," he shouted to us.
"They're not hostile," Octavia shouted down to him, frustrated. "Put the guns down!"
We ran alongside a fast-flowing river. We came to a decline and walked down it, stopping at the bottom. We made it to the ocean, but there was no village there. I exchanged a look with Clarke as Jasper spoke.
"Where's the village?" He asked.
I watched Octavia as she looked at the map in Lincoln's book, mumbling under her breath. "No. No, no. It can't be."
