As they loaded the bags into the trunk Kageyama asked Hinata why he had so few bags. Didn’t he own some of the furniture as well?
“I actually own the entire apartment.”
Kageyama froze with the last bag in his hand about to load it into the trunk of the car and whipped his head to face Hinata. “What? Why are you the one leaving?”
Hinata grabbed the bag from Kageyama’s hands and finished placing it inside. “Kutabare would never leave me alone if I forced him to leave. I could get a restraining order to keep him away but knowing him it wouldn’t work. I want to move somewhere else, so that he doesn’t know where I am. I- I don’t want to ever have to see him again…” Hinata felt tears sting his eyes as he desperately tried to wipe them before Kageyama could notice.
As Hinata turned to join everyone else who was already inside the car he felt Kageyama grab his arm and twirl him around, bringing him into a tight embrace. “You don’t have to hold it in. You can cry, I’m not going to judge you for it. It’s been hard on you.”
Hinata was surprised by the gentle tone and way Kageyama held him tight to his chest. He laid his head on Kageyama’s chest and felt the tears he had held back before flow from him in silent choking sobs. He wrapped his hands around Kageyama and tightly embraced him back, letting himself enjoy the warmth of his body and embrace.
After a few minutes had passed Hinata felt himself calm down and stepped back from Kageyama while wiping the tears that remained on his face. “Th- thanks.” He stuttered out, now all too aware of how his face flushed bright red and his heart had skipped a beat. He hadn’t had someone be nice to him like this for a long time. That must be why he was reacting like this.
Kageyama felt himself heat up as he became aware that he had just hugged Hinata, and turned his head, studying a spot in the distance. “Um, no..uh.. problem.”
The silence consumed the air between them as their eyes met again, neither saying a word, when Tsukishima popped his head out of his window and yelled back at them. “Oh, come on! I would like to get some sleep tonight if at all possible.”
The loud yell startled Hinata and Kageyama as it filled the silent air, making them jump and head towards their seats in the car. Hinata checked his phone and was surprised that the time was now 1:02am. They had left the restaurant at around 11:13 pm.
He was checking his phone making sure Kutabare hadn’t done anything weird like messaging his friends when he noticed something in his apps that made his blood run cold.
Daichi and Suga were discussing how Hinata could stay in their extra guest room inside their house when Hinata took a quick intake of breath and looked up at them. “Don’t speak! Don’t say anything else.” He said in a panicked voice. Suga turned in his seat and Daichi looked in the review mirror, both surprised and confused. “Why-“ Suga started before Hinata quickly brought his finger to his lips to silence him and focused back on his phone.
Kageyama looked over Hinata’s shoulder to see what got him so worried but was confused by how he was constantly going into his downloads, permission settings, and app logs. He continued to watch but couldn’t understand it at all. He was never good with his phone and rarely ever used it. What could be on Hinata’s phone to make him freak out like this?
Several minutes passed of silence before Hinata exhaled in relief and glanced back up to Suga who was still turned in his seat watching him. “Kutabare installed a spying app in my phone and hid it. He was listening in on us and tracking my phone.”
Suga’s eyes widened and he looked quickly towards Daichi, who had a serious expression on his face. Daichi glanced through the review mirror and could see the fear on Hinata’s face. He was biting on his thumb’s nail and staring down at his phone. Kageyama was watching Hinata with a worried expression, and Tsukishima had his usual expression on. He met Daichi’s eye as he glanced at him through the review mirror. “Hinata can’t go to your house now that Kutabare knows.” Tsukishima said.
Daichi sighed and looked back towards the road, Suga taking over speaking for him. “Hinata… do you want to try staying elsewhere? Kutabare knows where our house is so maybe it would be better for you to stay with someone else.” Unfortunately, Hinata had brought Kutabare with him to their house one time when he was visiting so he would probably know where it was.
“But where? I have nowhere to go… I don’t have enough money to even rent a place. And what about you two? He thinks I’m going to be there.” Hinata said.
“Don’t worry about us Hinata.” Daichi said in a reassuring tone. “If he shows up, we can make him leave. If he doesn’t, I’ll just call the police.”
Hinata put his head into his hands and let out a long sigh as Kageyama laid a hand on Hinata’s back in an effort to comfort him. Hinata looked up slowly, trying to hold back his tears that were threatening to fall. He hated how he kept crying in front of them. He hated the feeling of being vulnerable. He had nowhere to go. Nowhere to stay. He could call his friends to see if he could stay with them, but he didn’t want to burden them. He couldn’t risk Kutabare finding out where they live and going through one of his moods. If he decided to get physical, it could be dangerous for the people around him. He just couldn’t risk them getting hurt. Maybe he should just go back to Kutabare…
“Hinata, Stay with me.”
