I forgot to put this in the story so I'll just say it here. In this story Hinata and Kageyama didn't pursue a career in professional volleyball. Kageyama works as a volleyball coach for a college and Hinata works as a trainer for a gym, he also coaches a small girl's team as frequently as he can. They both usually have weekends off.

Hinata awoke to the smell of pancakes and bright light seeping through the opening of the blinds on the window. He looked around and realized that he must have fallen asleep by accident when Kageyama went to grab the sheets and comforter since he was still fully clothed and there were no sheets on the mattress. He got up and went through his bags, grabbing a grey hoodie and taking off his shirt. He decided to wear the grey hoodie without the shirt. He got into the habit of doing this after he realized it was both more comfortable, and easier. He left his jeans on but changed his grey socks to a different pair since they would probably stink.

After he finished, he made the bed with the black comforter and sheets. Hinata frowned when he realized that the whole room was black except for the silver potted plants around the room. He really needed to add some color to this room. He decided to finish unpacking later and went out of his room and walked across to the kitchen, where Kageyama was making pancakes with a dark blue apron on.

Hinata sat at the small kitchen table only designed to sit two people at and watched Kageyama until he finally noticed him sitting there. “Oh, Hinata, you’re up.”

“Yep, I’m up. Those look good.” Hinata remarked as he smiled.

“They’re almost done.” Kageyama said as he turned back to the pancakes to flip them.

Hinata sat silently as he watched Kageyama putting the pancakes on plates, bringing the butter and syrup to the table. Once he sat down to eat, they said “Itadakimasu,” and began to eat.

“Hey Hinata,” Kageyama said between a bite of pancake, “Why haven’t you gone to the police?”

Hinata paused with his fork in the air about to take a bite and put the fork down. He straightened in his seat and looked up at Kageyama with a serious face. “There is only so much the police can do. If I go to them it will only make Kutabare angrier. It’s not like he will just sit by when I try to get a restraining order done and take him to court! Plus, I don’t have much evidence.” Hinata said, the part about the evidence being a lie. He had tons of evidence. He just believed that Kutabare was better than this… that he was a good person and would change and go back to how he used to be. But now he knows, Kutabare will never change. He will never be the person Hinata wanted him to be. Should he just go to the police?

“Hinata, you have witnesses. If you get a restraining order directed against him under Domestic Abuse, then you can keep him away. And if he doesn’t listen to that order then we can call the police and hopefully he could even end up in jail for it. Did he ever message you texts that you can screenshot for evidence?”

Hinata was convinced now. He needed to go to the police to settle this. Why was he acting so scared of Kutabare? Why had he ever believed he was a good person? He can’t just let Kutabare control his life like this. He wouldn’t, not anymore. “Um… yeah. I’ll have to go through my phone and check our messages. I’m sure I can find tons of evidence there. I also have pictures…” Hinata stopped when he realized his mistake. He had never told anyone about how Kutabare would get physical when he was mad. He had never shared that.

“Hinata, what do you mean by pictures? Pictures of what?” Hinata hung his head and didn’t say anything. Eventually Kageyama spoke, voice soft and full of surprise, or was that anger?

“He hit you. Hinata, Kutabare hit you, didn’t he?”

Hinata felt a knot form in his throat, he felt himself unable to speak anymore so he simply nodded, keeping his head down. He jumped in surprise as he felt Kageyama wrap his arms around him, stroking his hair softly. Hinata stayed still for a few moments before finally wrapping his arms around Kageyama and excepting the embrace.
