The Hoodie

Sorry about the lack of an update yesterday! I had no inspiration and only was able to find it this morning. I guess you could say I could still write a chapter without the inspiration but I would never post something half assed, I only give my best work. So I hope you enjoy!

Hinata grabbed a red shirt and then an oversized black hoodie that seemed to cover half of his hands and go past his waistline a little too far. It wasn't too oversized but just enough for Kageyama to notice, plus it was going to be around 70 to 80 degrees today, why was he wearing a hoodie?

"Why are you wearing that? It's way too hot to wear a hoodie you know." Kageyama said.

"I'm not taking it off."

"Why? You'll overheat!"

"I just... I feel more comfortable with it on." Hinata looked away as he said this, face full of sorrow.

"You can wear it Hinata, I can't tell you what not to wear but if you get overheated, we need to go somewhere with an air-conditioner." Hinata simply nodded and Kageyama sighed as he turned around.

He wished Hinata would just tell him what was wrong. He hated not being able to help Hinata through his problems, but he needed to wait until Hinata was ready-

"This hoodie... it's my favorite. It's the one I wear when I'm uncomfortable, or when I'm around others." Kageyama slowly turned around to face Hinata as he told his story.

Hinata had his face snuggled into the hoodie and had his hands tucked into its pockets, almost like he was trying to shield himself. "I got into the habit of doing it after Kutabare cheated on me. He kept trying to touch me, as if we were the same couple we were before he cheated on me. I hated when he would touch me, it made me feel disgusting, like trash. So, I started to wear this hoodie and hide myself in it. It became habit to do it anytime I would come into contact with others. I just, don't like being touched anymore."

"Why don't you wear it around me?" Kageyama didn't realize how stupid his question was until after he said it. He didn't wear his hoodie when he met everyone at the team meet up, so obviously it was just because he was familiar with us all. "And the team?" He added.

"When I went to the team meet up, I was rushed out the door, I wasn't able to grab it. The prospect of going back to grab it was not an option. And with you... I already told you I trusted you, didn't I?"

Kageyama's breath hitched and he felt his heart get stabbed with that unfamiliar ping as he stared into Hinata's brown eyes.

"Right, um... you did." Kageyama blushed as he said the words, hoping Hinata wouldn't notice. Unfortunately, he did. Hinata smirked and went to say something but ultimately got cut off by Kageyama who had just noticed what the hoodie said. It read "Karasuno" with white lettering on the plain black background.

"That hoodie! It's the one my mother made for me to bring to the dirty santa party our team had in our third year. I remember being annoyed since the hoodie was over the money limit, but she forced me to bring it anyway... and then you won it."

This time, it was Hinata's turn to transform into a tomato. "It-it's comfortable a-and big so..." He was cut off by Kageyama's laugh which only served to turn him redder. When Kageyama finished he looked at Hinata with such a big and genuine smile Hinata felt like he actually would turn into a tomato. "I'm happy it helped you. Makes me want to thank my mother for having to be so extra then."

Hinata let out a chuckle and looked back at Kageyama with a serious expression. "Ready to go?" Kageyama nodded.

Hinata then walked past Kageyama to the front door, sighing as he walked out with Kageyama on his heel. They took the bus to reach the police station and talked to one of the police officers, only to figure out that they needed to head to the courthouse.

Hinata proposed that they go to the mall near the police station and look for some colorful things to decorate his room and Kageyama nodded, knowing that Hinata simply wanted to prepare himself before going. They ended up not being able to find anything interesting and left, getting a late lunch before heading to the courthouse.

Once they finally reached the courthouse, they told the women in charge of cases like Hinata's about the offenses Kutabare had done and showed her the evidence of harassment and abuse. The women told them that she would get a court date set and tell them when to come in. During the court hearing both Kutabare and Hinata would give their sides of the story and show the evidence and the restraining order would be made depending on how it went.

After she was done explaining they excused themselves and got on a bus to head home. It was already approaching 8 o'clock at night. Kageyama noticed after they had left the courthouse how anxious Hinata seemed to be, he kept fiddling with his fingers and glancing around.

When they finally arrived home Kageyama asked him about his nervousness as he began to make dinner, Hinata watching him from his seat at the table.

"I thought I wouldn't have to see him again." Hinata told him, "I thought that they would give the restraining order based on the evidence, not notify him that I was taking him to fucking court."

Kageyama watched Hinata as put his head in his hands in frustration and let out a long sigh. Kageyama looked back at the ingredients laid out in front of him to make curry and put them up, approaching Hinata when he finished.

"Let's go."

Hinata looked up in surprise. "Go where?"

"We're going to get you some meat buns and go out for a drink."

"Are you asking me out on a date right now?" Hinata jokingly asked.

"Think of it as you like, you need to clear your head and so I'm taking you out."

Hinata was silent for a moment before smiling up at Kageyama. "Okay, that sounds like fun."
