Wow. The inspiration just keeps coming to me... looks like we are finishing this series today ladies and gentlemen!! I might just go to an updating schedule of everyday for the last few. Just to keep the suspense up ;) I know I'm evil
5 days have passed since Hinata got those messages, and tomorrow was the court date. He was surprised with himself of how he wasn’t nervous at all. The idea of how Kageyama and his friends were going to be there calming him down considerably. Now he was sitting down, waiting for Kageyama to get home from work.
Hinata had called his own job after he got home from the hospital and explained the situation, asking for a week off so that he could get the restraining order before returning to work, to which they willingly agreed to immediately. The people at his work were nice people, which made the situation a whole lot less stressful for him now.
Looking at the clock he saw he still had 2 hours until Kageyama got back. Kageyama always left at 6, so it wouldn’t hurt if Hinata dozed off a little now. He had already cleaned the house and cooked dinner; which was now sitting in a crockpot on its warm setting. Leaning back on the couch he let his heavy eyes close, nodding off into a deep sleep.
--------------When Hinata woke up the apartment was pitch black which meant… quickly he shifted to look at the digital clock they had on the small table next to the couch. 8:58 p.m.? He glanced around trying to find any sign of Kageyama. All the lights were turned off which meant he couldn’t be here. But hadn’t he left the kitchen light on?... Hinata shifted himself off the couch and patted around in search of his phone. Unable to find it he lifted himself up and headed carefully to the light switch.
After flipping it on he walked towards the couch and found his phone tucked away between a couch cushion.
Trying to turn it on he found it was dead and sighed, his annoyance starting to put him in a grouchy mood.Looking around once more he saw his charger on the side table and plugged his phone up, watching as the charger symbol came onscreen. After he was satisfied that it was indeed charging, he sat up and stretched heading towards the kitchen where they had a home phone.
He needed to call Kageyama to make sure…
Suddenly, without warning, the living room light went off once again interrupting Hinata’s thoughts.
Annoyed he made his way to the light switches once more, about to put tape on the switches so they wouldn’t flip again when he saw a dark shape move in the corner of his eye. He froze. Not wanting to look in the direction that he saw the figure he started walking again, wanting to turn on the lights before he tried to challenge something in the dark. Which, in the end, proved to be a mistake.
A hand shot out of the darkness and grabbed a lock of his hair, pulling him back towards the center of the living area. A scream of fright escaped Hinata’s lips as he tried to hit and kick his way out of the hold. He felt himself shoved as the figure let go. Terrified Hinata quickly tried to stumble onto his feet only to be kicked in the stomach by the dark figure. Tumbling to the ground he clenched his chest, trying to recover his breath as it quickened. He felt himself panic as hyperventilation started to set in. Shaking his head slightly to clear his head he took deep breathes and stared up at the dark figure as it made its way over to him.
Hinata flinched as the figure grabbed his arms, pulling them around to his back. Hinata realized to late what the figure was trying to do and found himself unable to shake his hands free of the rope that now held his hands together behind his back. He shook in fear as the figure stepped back. Not again, not again! Why was he always going through things like this… why him?
All of his thoughts stopped when he heard the front door open. Kageyama. He felt his heartbeat quicken in fear as he realized Kageyama probably had no idea what was happening. He would walk in and get attacked by the person in front of him, he would get hurt… maybe even worse.
“NO! Kageyama run! Get help don’t-“ His cheek stung as the figure in front of him slapped him hard across the left cheek. Tears leaked through his eyes as he saw another shadow run into the living room. NO! RUN YOU STUPID LOYAL FOOL!
And then, by Hinata’s surprise, the figure that slapped him spoke to the new shadow. “Get the lights on and help me with this.” Hinata’s heart stopped in shock and dread as he recognized the voice of the man he had come to loathe with all his might. Kutabare Kuso.
He remained petrified, shocked into stillness as he watched the shadow obey Kutabare’s orders and flip on the switch. The light elluminated their faces, confirming Hinata’s fears. The one who had first attacked him had of course been Kutabare, and the newcomer was the one who attacked Hinata in the alleyway.
Now that Hinata could get a good look at the man he saw that he was definitely a giant of a man. He was as broad as Daichi, yet even more well-built.
And when Hinata got a good look at his face, he realized he knew him. Not by person, but by pictures Kutabare had shown him before.
“You’re Kutabare’s brother…” Hinata muttered. The man remained stone face, but Kutabare snapped his head back at Hinata and scowled. “That’s right. He’s my brother. It’s just been me and him for the last 14 years. Every since we got away from our drunkard father and mother.” Hinata was surprised at the information Kutabare was telling him. He had always refused to share to much of himself to Hinata… was he doing this in a way to gain sympathy?
“We thought we could deal with our parents abuse by just sticking it out. But when I came home one day, and my father had beaten my brother to the verge of death… I killed him.”
Shock reverberated across Hinata at the sudden words. He was definitely not saying this to gain sympathy. “Then… your going to kill me too?” Hinata said softly, surprised at the sudden courage he had when he asked the question, he was now dreading the answer too.
“I can’t go to court Shoyo. They will recognize me when I go. They will arrest me, and I will have to spend a long time in jail. I’m not going to jail Shoyo.”
“I’ll drop the case, I won’t take you to court, Kutabare- Kuso! I won’t say anything about this… I promise.” Hinata’s voice shook with his words, hoping upon all hope that Kutabare would agree.
“It’s to late for that Shoyo. It’s to late.”
“Wait! Kuso, don’t do this!” Hinata begged as he struggled against the rope tying his hands together as the sharp gleam of a knife was pulled out of Kutabare’s bag and brought closer towards Hinata.
“Kurae. Hold him.” Kutabare’s brother walked over to Hinata and grabbed his head and held it completely still while grabbing the back of his neck to keep him from struggling. Hinata sobbed and kept trying to struggle with all his might, with no avail. This really is the end for him. Kutabare was going to cut his throat. What about the future? He wanted to spend the rest of his life with Kageyama… Does this mean he could never be with him again? Never say goodbye? As long as Kageyama is alive and safe, that’s all he cares about. Hinata closed his eyes as the stream of tears continued to spill out, I guess this really is the end… Please live well Kageyama.
The sound of the front door shocked all three of them as Hinata’s eye lids shot open and locked eyes with the black eyes of the man he had not wanted to see the most at this moment, yet at the same time did.
Kutabare’s surprise made the knife inch away from its position right on Hinata’s throat allowing him to speak without fear of the knife cutting his throat.
“Kageyama run! Please! Run!”
