Chapter 22 ~ Lazy Day with the Family

Laura's Pov

I woke up the next morning and Jack and Kindall weren't in the room. I threw on one of Jack's sweatshirts and went downstairs. I heard the boys talking in the kitchen so I went in and took Kindall from Jack.

"Well good morning to you too baby." "Good morning."

JJ said, "Good morning baby sister." "Good morning Bubba."

Jack said, "You know my mom leaves today, right?" I nodded.

"You need to plan a day for dress shopping with her so she can tell Molly and Laura." "That's a lot of work."

"Just figure out a day baby." "I'm thinking."

"You just need to tell my mom before we drop her off at the airport." I nodded.

Katherine came downstairs and said, "I need to get going soon. But I do wanna figure out a day for dress shopping." "What about like the middle of March?"

"That works. I'll make the appointment and let you know." "Thank you Katherine."

"Anything for you sweet pea." Jack said, "Cmon mom. Let's get you to the airport."

Katherine said bye to all of us and Jack took her to the airport. JJ said, "Do you want me to make you some breakfast baby sister?"

"I'm not super hungry." "Are you lying to me?"

I shook my head and said, "Now that I'm not pregnant, my old appetite is back." "I was hoping your pregnancy appetite would stay."

"Yeah. No thank you. I'm gonna put Kindall in her swing. Can you watch her? I wanna go to the gym." "I'll watch her. Just don't overdo it at the gym."

I put Kindall in her swing and said, "I won't." I went upstairs and changed into athletic shorts and one of Jack's tank tops.

I threw my hair up in a ponytail and put on my nikes. I grabbed my phone and headphones and went back downstairs.

"Bye JJ. Be good to my baby girl while I'm gone." "I will."

I went outside and got in the car. I drove to the gym and did all of my workouts. After about two hours I was finished so I drove back home and went inside.

JJ said, "That was not a short workout." "It was the same workout I used to do before I was pregnant."

"You had a baby like a little over a week ago." "Okay, and?"

"You're gonna overdo it." "I'm fine."

He rolled his eyes and said, "Wait until Jack finds out." "He'll be fine."

Jack came downstairs and said, "Find out what?" JJ said, "How long your fiancé was just working out."

Jack looked at me and said, "How long baby?" "Two hours."

"Laura." "I just did my old work out."

"And nothing hurt?" "No babe. If something hurt, I would've stopped."

"Fine. But you can't be doing workouts like this everyday." "Yes I can. I need to get back in shape before the wedding."

"Babe. You already lost a surprising amount of weight from the baby." "I just want to get back to my old weight before I go dress shopping."

"That's like a month away baby." "I know. But I still want to get back to my old weight. The quicker, the better."

"Just don't go to the extremes babe." "I won't. Now I'm going to go shower because I am grossly sweaty."

They both nodded and I went upstairs. I took a shower and got out. I put on a sweatshirt and some leggings and brushed my hair out. I went downstairs and sat on the couch next to Jack.

I took Kindall from him and laid my head on his chest. "See. You wore yourself out. This is why you're not supposed to be doing rigorous workout right after you have your baby." "It's been almost two weeks. Calm down. The doctor said not to do anything that hurts. None of this hurt."

"Babe." "We've talked about you babying me."

"Fine. I'm done babying you." We hung out downstairs most of the day and at around 8pm I put Kindall to bed.

After she was asleep I went downstairs and sat on Jack's lap. "What are you doing baby?"

"Getting excited about tomorrow." "Oh. So you're finally excited?"

"Yes. I'm finally excited about tomorrow." "Good."

JJ said, "Hayden is watching Kindall tomorrow. All day." "All day?"

"Yes. All day. He'll be here at 10 to pick her up tomorrow morning." "Goodness. Thanks for the heads up."

"You should be thanking me for arranging that so you can relax and take all the time you need to get ready for your date." "And meeting your mystery woman."

"Yes. And meeting my mystery woman." "She isn't some tinder hoe, right?"

"No. I actually went to high school with her." "Please tell me she's your age."

"Actually. She's your age." "You're kidding, right?"

"No." "Do not tell me you're going out with one of my friends."

"Okay. I won't tell you that." "Which one is it?"

"You told me not to tell you I'm going out with one of your friends." "Jack Edward Johnson. If you don't tell me who it is right now, so help me God."

"Fine. It's Sarah." "I'm sorry. But that's not happening."

"Laura. Don't be like this." "What if you guys have a messy break up? Then I won't be able to be her friend anymore because I'm gonna take your side."

"That won't happen." "You don't know that."

"It's not gonna happen." "We'll see."

"I was hoping you would be happy for me." "It's not that I'm not happy for you. It's that I hate that it's with one of my best friends. Literally one of my only friends who's a girl. What if y'all do end up with a messy break up and she ends up hating me? I can't lose her."

"And you won't. I promise." "Okay."

"And if it does. I will make sure you guys are still friends. I'm not gonna let you lose her. I know how much she means to you." "Fine. I guess I'm okay with her being your valentine. But you better treat her well."

"I will." Jack said, "Now it's time for you, mama bear, to get some sleep."

"Fine." I got off his lap and pulled him up. "If I'm going, You're going."

"I'm coming baby. Calm down." We went upstairs and he got undressed.

He laid in bed next to me and said, "I love you sweet girl. I can't wait to give you the perfect Valentine's Day." "I love you too baby." He kissed me and I got comfy on him.

Soon I was asleep. I woke up a few hours later to Kindall crying. I picked her up and took her downstairs. I made her a bottle and fed her. I burped her and took her up to her room. I changed her diaper and went back in my room.

I rocked her a little bit and soon she was asleep. I carefully put her back in the bassinet and laid back down. I snuggled back into Jack and soon I was asleep again.
