Accidents Mistakes Tragedies Regrets (Goodbye Alien)

~Athena~

A girl with pointy ears and brown eyes walks down a hallway. It was normally quiet around but this time you could hear muffled screaming coming from the only room that's lit up. She walked closer and muffle voices became more clear. An angry Galra and the leader of the group where fighting.

Most of the time the fighting wasn't in public and Athena would end up eavesdropping but for once the fight was in front of everyone else.... and she just so happened to walk in midway through this...

The blonde girl had tears in her eyes as she screamed at the leader who was clearly taller then her. Athena stood there listening to them trying to keep her calm.
"Cassia! You claim to care about us when you literally go ahead and die!! TWICE!!You day you trust me but you won't let me do this on my own!" The blonde haired girl moves closer and kept screaming.
"Faith I'm sorry!! I didn't want to die! It didn't try!! I want to protect you!! Without any proper information I'm not going to send you out there alone! Besides, shouldn't we stop and move on from this!! You know I can't control what happened. I cant risk anyone else getting hurt Faith!" Cassia yells back. At this point they where both right up in each other faces. Faith slaps Cassia across the face.

"Can we all please calm down?" Athena says tired of having to deal with the girls.
"Shut the hell up princess! You don't know what it's like...." Faith snaps back turning to Athena showing her red eyes caused by the tears.
"I'm sorry—" Athena responds backing away again feeling bad not realizing how this was the only way the two could really sort out the situation.
"No I'm sorry Athena. I'm sorry to everyone.... we shouldn't be fighting in front of all of you. That's not what 'leaders' do," Cassia says backing away from Faith trying to push off the fight like it was nothing. Faith was standing there in silence now in shock of the way Cassia wanted to push this away.
"Your fucking heartless... a poor excuse of a leader. Have fun on your own—" Faith says placing something inside Cassias palm before leaving the room pushing Athena to the side. "This is all your fault princess...." Faith says before disappearing into the night.

Lizzy extends her hand out towards Athena. "I'm so sorry Alien! I wish you didn't have to experience that..." Lizzy says smiling trying to lessen the tension in the room. Kayla and Chase nod and both take a deep breath.
"I've never seen Faith get that upset..." Chase says sliding back into her chair.
"She's more of the type to keep things to herself. Then again, I don't think she expected us to enter the room when they where fighting," Chase says now thinking about the whole scenario.
"Still, they should have excused themselves..." Kayla says placing her hand on Chases shoulder as a sign to not overthink. Chase smiles slightly.
"It's my fault I'm sorry guys..." Cassia says clutching the item in her hand.
"It's not you fault. You where not expecting us to walk into the room when you both where trying to sort out differences in opinions," Levi says walking over to hug Cassia.
Cassia takes a breath, "Thank you Levi," she says and then walks over to Chase.
They take another moment in silence before getting to work.

Hours pass, Levi had fallen asleep on the couch. Chase, Kayla, and Lizzy has fallen asleep in a fort they had made from the pillows that they found in the area. Cassia and Athena let them have their moments in other to ease the whole situation. A few minutes later the Garrison Trio was asleep.

Athena turned over to Cassia, "What did Faith mean when she said it was my fault?" Athena asks trying to understand.
"It's not you fault, she's trying to find someone to blame for my mistakes... she hasn't had anyone who has been there to help her.... she wants to make you guilty for dragging us out into space to face endless suffering in a sense. But to be honest I think it's helped us all grow in our own ways..." Cassia says trying to comfort Athena.
"She blames me for getting you killed...." Athena realizes and eyes the ground.
"No Athena it's not that—" Cassia was interrupted by the notification from the castle that was sitting there untouched.
"What's this about?" Cassia asks changing subjects.
"Oh! Those are like you email notifications. They are what alarm us when you guys take the lions or the escape pods," Athena said tapping the notification. "I normally clear them out— wait this one is recent—" Athena was interrupted again...
"Fuck Faith!" Cassia said reading the notification about the black lion. Cassia looks at Athena, who nods understanding the situation.
"It's my fault! I let her storm out.. if I had stopped her or maybe followed she wouldn't had run off!" Cassia says trying to race over to the pods. Athena stops her.
"I'll go get Faith. You watch over the others. If anything happens I'll call for you guys I promise. Let me fix this mistake for you...." Athena says smiling and not giving her a choice. Cassia watches her leave in the blue lion.

Hours pass. Chase wakes up along with Levi. Cassia fills them on the situation. They where not surprised by Faiths actions, but they didn't understand... why someone as selfish as Faith would run off.
"But why would she just go? Doesn't she prefer staying locked up in the castle?" Levi asks.
"When Faith has a motive for soemthing she will do it..." Cassia says takings a breath waiting for Athena to call them.
"Why did she run off??" Chase asks.
"One of the Blade members told her they found traces of a rebel group that her parents used to work with. When she found the distress signal from the area she wanted to go... but since it was to sudden... I told her to wait," Cassia says clutching the item in her fist.
"I mean I would have run off as well. I'd do anything to be with my family again..." Kayla says walking over and stretching.
"I hate to say it, but Faiths motive is reasonable. If it was a chance to find your parents wouldn't you take it?" Kayla asks trying to make it more understandable  for the others.
"Sadly, Kayla is right. Sometimes it's worth a risk Cassia. Especially if it's personal like family..." Chase says siding with her friend.
"The thing is... I just don't want to lose her. I didn't want her to go through everything just for her to find out it was all a waste," Cassia says.
"Still, matters like this are important. Even if her mom is dead. She has the right to find out now when there is the chance that she is... alive." Levi says siding with everyone. Cassia nods. She knows they are right, but her concern was the safety of everyone... especially Faith.

Another hour or so pass. Cassia grew impatient and then, they receive a call. Chase answered the call right away. It was kinda distorted but they understood who it was. "Hey guys.... please come— I'm sending the location. Hurry— please—" the transmission was over the location was sent.
"Let's go!" Chase says grabbing the others running towards the lions. They race to the location mostly worried about the two girls. It felt like they've been gone for years when it was barely reaching a full 24 hours.

The rest of the group arrived at the location to see the rebel group fighting against the Galra fleets. The black lion was laying on its side. The blue lion was next to it. It had taken heavy fire and overall looked like trash. Not movement from either lion not light, they where empty.

"The rest of them took care of a few ships. Chase lands her lion while it's invisible trying to find Faith and Athena. She quickly found them in the larger crowd and helped fend off some of the soldiers around them.
"Chase! Your here!" Athena says excitingly before going back to her area closer to Faith who was the most messed up. Another hour of fighting and it was clear enough that they could take a breath.

Faith takes a breath dropping her Bayard. Seconds after it landed on the ground, she fell to her knees exhausted. Not even seconds later the sound of a gunshot was heard. She looked at the soldier on the ground who had the gun pointed at her. She was to tired to move, she just surrendered at the moment and closed her eyes. She never felt the pain.... she only heard a thud.

Next to her laid Athena. Faiths eyes filled with tears as she grabbed a nearby gun and killed the soldier officially. It was over but the pain had only just begun. Faith pulled Athena onto her lap. Chase went to gather everyone. Seconds later they all walked over to Faith and Athena.

Cassia and Levi arrive to find them all huddled up in one area. They run over. They see them both on the floor. Their worse fears had came to life in a spam of 24 hours officially. They saw Faith who was holding Athena. Tears filled all their eyes. Faiths eyes where bloodshot red. She had been crying the most..
"It's all my fault.... I'm sorry—" Faith says hugging Athena staying in that position feeling what's left of her heartbeat against hers.
"Athena— I'm so sorry..." Lizzy says trying to hold back tears.
"Heh... so you do remember my name..." Athena says smiling slightly. Everyone tears up as they look down at her watching her eyes close and open.
"Faith—I'm sorry..." Athena says kissing her on the cheek closing her eyes for the last time using her final breath to say one last thing, "I love you guys... especially you.." she let go of Faiths hand that she had been holding drifting away. Faith cries and others crying amongst themselves. A moment of silence and then Lizzy stood up and placed her hand on Faiths shoulder. She looked down at Athena and took one last breath. Then Lizzy opened her mouth to speak..

"Goodbye Alien..."
