Kenma Kozume - Fear of Being Alone

"Oi, oi, (L/N)! Why are you always alone here?" A boy apporoached you along with his best friend. You've know these two since you were diapers. But even as you grew, you wanted to be alone.

"I-I don't want to talk to people," you replied, looking away. You hugged your legs tighter and tried to hide your face.

"Well, you're just like Kenma over here! He doesn't like talking much and is always playing games. Isn't that right, Kenma?" The boy looked at his companion.

"Hmm, yeah, I guess," Kenma was also bashful and looked away.

"So, (L/N), will you join us? Pleaseeeee!" Kuroo pleaded. You knew you couldn't say no to him.

Ever since that day, all you wanted to be is with your bestest friends, Kuroo and Kenma.

After a few years, all of you were still the same. Kuroo was still the one trying to force you and Kenma to play and hang out, Kenma was still a gamer, and you were still a loner. Well, except when your friends were around.

When middle school came, you started to be the most talkative one. You gained a lot of friends, and that took your attention away from your besties. But even so, you tried your best to hang out with them often.

One day, you couldn't hell but overhear Kuroo and Kenma talking about pursuing volleyball. You've been rooting for them, but you didn't know why they loved it so bad. Even if Kenma said he didn't want to pursue it anymore, you knew he would come to a moment where he'll enjoy it.

You thought that if Kenma disagrees with Kuroo, you're going to talk him out of it. But to your suprise, Kenma kept going.

That's when it all began.

Pressure started getting into you, and once you stepped into High School, you lost a big amount of friends. They seemed to have 'lost interest' in you and thought you were a burden. When you needed them most, that's when they left you. But the only ones who stayed were Kuroo and Kenma.

Once, Kenma surprisingly invited you to his house to play games. You loved his company, and you've always loved it.

"(L/N)," Kenma called when the two of you took a little break from playing.

"Hm? What is it, Kenma?"

"I heard about your friends."

You felt a sudden pain in your chest. Not sure of what to do, Kenma held you tightly in his arms. This was the first time you saw this side of him, and oh boy, how you loved it so much.

"K-Kenma... it's okay, I..."

"Do you realize it now?" He suddenly said.

"Realize what?"

"How painful it was to see you drift away," he answered, "when you were having new friends, I was jealous. Probably more jealous than what Kuroo felt. I missed you so much! And I didn't know if you were still my best friend or just a friend."

Your eyes started to sting, and you felt like you pushed him away. You hated yourself the most this time. You hate how you made him feel this way.

"I didn't realize it at first. I'm sorry for being a pain. But I wasn't going to leave you anyway," you replied, hugging him tighter.

"(L/N), I feel this way because I love you. I really do," he gently pulled away from your hug, wiping tears away from his face. "And I understand if you don't feel the same."

"No, Kenma!" You cupped his cheeks, making him blush.

"I love you too. I always have."

"I'm glad you're back in my arms."
