Cyborg went to check on Beastboy with Raven. The second they both walked in to his room, Beastboy's eyes got super wide.
"Raven, I think I'm hallucinating..." Beastboy panicked wide-eyed and out of it. Raven smirked and Cyborg got an idea.
"What do you mean?" Raven asked.
"Cyborg looks normal!" Beastboy gawked.
"Well yeah, BB, I'm my normal metal self!" Cyborg cut in grinning.
"NO-NO!! He's got skin!!" Beastboy whined.
"Well yeah, I'm half human half robot!" Cyborg asked confused.
"NO! He looks different!!" Beastboy huffed.
"He looks fine to me!?" Raven questioned as she felt his forehead. She was so serious that Cyborg struggles to stiffen his laugh. Beastboy paled as the joke's intent hit him.
"OH SHIT!! I'm dying!" Beastboy shrieked with his heart hammering in his chest. Both Raven and Cyborg busted out in laughter. Confused Beastboy flopped back into his pillow with a dramatic huff. "You guys are messing with me, aren't you...?" Beastboy growled into his pillow.
"Yeeeaaaah, Raven did the spell again...." Cyborg admitted with an ornery grin before feeling his temperature with his bare hand. He took out a thermometer from his pocket and popped it into Beastboy's mouth. Beastboy rolled his eyes as he waited for Cyborg to call out his temperature.
"103...BB, how long have you felt sick?" Cyborg asked suspiciously.
"Just this morning..." *cough* "I was tired yesterday when we got home but otherwise fine..." Beastboy sat up with a chill.
"103 is pretty high, so let's get that fever down..." Cyborg advised, "Did you have any unusual contact with anyone yesterday?" He questioned out of the blue.
"I went to the mall with Robin...we ran into a bunch of people." Beastboy responded not understanding the question.
"But no one coughed on you or patted you or poked you with a needle...?" Cyborg continued, drawing a confused look from Raven.
"Noooo, I don't think so?" Beastboy paused, "Wait, I did get a weird shock from the game controller Robin got yesterday!" He held out his green hand with a small pink dot in the palm of his hand.
"I'm gunna go grab some things, I have a weird idea but I'm gunna need a blood sample." Cyborg pushed himself up from the edge of Beastboy's bottom bunk.
Meanwhile, Nightwing was getting some extra training in with Robin when Starfire came in to the weight room. Robin was spotting Nightwing at the bench. He was on his last set and was struggling on the last rep at 355lbs. This was a huge step up from where Nightwing was as Robin. His old best before the accident was 275lbs so he was extremely happy with himself. He stood up and Starfire silently admired from the doorway. Nightwing had put on a bit of muscle weight since switching his training. He had also grown since his surgery. He stood in front of Starfire at 6'1" and 250lbs and officially taller than her 5'11" frame.
"Wonderful!" Starfire exclaimed at the weight on the bar which startled both Robin and Nightwing into turning around and noticing Starfire in the doorway.
"Thanks Star!" Nightwing called into his towel as he wiped the sweat off of his face.
"So, does this mean I should start calling you my sister-in-law?" Robin called out with an ornery grin?
"Well, technically, yeah!" Nightwing cut in as Starfire looked at them both with confusion.
"What is the law of the sister?" Starfire asked with a little trepidation.
"NO-no! That's just an earth phrase for becoming a sister through marriage!" Nightwing hastily explained.
"Ohhhh! Glorious!! I am the sister of the law!" Starfire exclaimed with joy as she shot into the air. Nightwing and Robin chuckled as Nightwing admired how cute her ignorance was.
Cyborg went back to his room after giving the blood sample to Raven to run tests on. Raven wanted Cyborg to go enjoy the rest of his day as a human so she booted him off the blood lab. He opened the door and saw Bumblebee sleeping under the covers. He slid in under the covers to snuggle up to her. He closed his eyes enjoying how her bare skin felt agains his bare chest.
Later that night, Beastboy was sleeping in his bottom bunk when he began tossing and turning. As he fell into a deeper sleep his dreams took a turn for the worst.
Beastboy was running through the streets of the city after dark. He didn't know what he was running from but he could hear the crunch of the gravel in between his shoe and the cement. He can't change into anything which brought a sense of panic as he ran through the streets. The street behind him started to break down and fall into a pit of lava as the city crumbled behind him. He tried to outpace the destruction but tripped on the crack below. He felt someone grab his ankle as he tried to get back up. He tried to escape the grip but it was tight around his right leg. He turned and saw a familiar orange and black mask as his heart pounded. Fire shot from Slade's free hand and Beastboy threw his arms up to block the blast. He closed his eyes before it hit him in the face.
Beastboy was jostled awake by Raven. Her grey face was glowing with worry against the dark room. She was sitting on the edge of his bed when he realized how sweaty the sheets around him were. He sat up, breathing heavily, realizing the room was spinning. He felt a familiar pit of anxiety rising in his chest.
"Beastboy, are you okay?" Raven asked feeling his damp forehead.
"Get the game and controller away from Damien!" Beastboy huffed our go breath.
"What!? Beastboy, you were dreaming." Raven said confused.
"No, I think I was poisoned by Slade." He paused to catch his breath. "It was the controller! This is how he got Bee too! I feel it again!" Beastboy shouted starting to panic. His heart was hammering as Raven tried to calm him down.
