A few weeks had gone by.
Bumblebee was not over everything, because how could she be? She was, however, trying to move on. Cyborg kept up his smokescreen, when in reality, he wasn't coping either.
Bumblebee had started venturing out of the room and talking to the others. She spent a lot of time with Raven since she didn't prod her about her feelings. Cyborg was happy that Bee found solace in Raven because that left Beastboy open to play video games with.
Raven had gotten Bee hooked on tea and she taught Bee how to meditate. Bee had really warmed up to the silence in Raven's room and Raven simply enjoyed having a quiet partner to meditate with. Being alone with her thoughts everyday allowed Bee to slowly come to terms with what happened.
Starfire and Nightwing decided it was time to let the rest of the team know they were engaged. Starfire got ready for dinner and slide her ring onto her left hand. Nightwing got pizza and asked the whole team to come eat together. After some jokes from Beastboy and catching up with everyone, Nightwing cleared his throat.
"So—Um, I got everyone together tonight because we have an announcement..." Nightwing started and nervously glanced over at Starfire for help. She simply squealed with delight and held her left hand in the air to show off her ring.
"No way!!" Beastboy was the first to react. "Congrats dudes!!"
"Yeah, congrats." Raven chimed in with her standard monotone voice.
"You finally did it!" Cyborg smiled "congrats man! We're all happy for you guys!" Bee stayed silent but she smiled. She was very happy for the two, but especially for Nightwing. She watched Nightwing suffer tremendously last year as Robin, but he bounced back stronger than before. He truly came back better than ever in more ways than just crime fighting. He was truly living his life now and Bee found his metamorphosis to be inspiring.
After dinner, Bee went home to the rooftop to get some air. Nightwing noticed and went upstairs to check on her. He opened the door to the rooftop to see her gazing at the city below.
"How are you doing?" His husky voice asked. It seemed to have deepened since he switched from Robin to Nightwing but the lower tone sounded better with his new persona.
"I'm surprisingly good...best I've felt since..." Bee started as Nightwing sat down on the ledge next to her. She was still wearing one of Cyborg's hoodies as a dress, so no one could look at her stomach but she habitually places her hand on what was left of it.
"That's good to hear." Nightwing whispered, enjoying the moment of cool weather they were getting this deep into the summer.
"You and Star inspire me..." Bee started before glancing at Nightwing.
"Oh?" His words were short but implied a lot. She studied his freckled face that was shielded with his mask.
"You two struggled and you easily got the worst of Slade. He basically took your identity from you with that injury, but you two managed to move on and get better. How?" Bee questioned.
"That's just it... I didn't move on... and neither should you." Nightwing started calmly, gazing out at the sea. "It all still haunts me, I have nightmares, and fears, and stresses, but then I wake up and see Starfire and how much of a life I have now. Before Gotham and before the Titans, I never had to worry about anyone else. I had watched both my parents die, and thought I'd never love again. Grief, fear, and loss are all prices we pay for the privilege of love."
"You're surprisingly poetic, Bird Brain..." Cyborg said from behind them as they turned their heads with surprise. He sat down next to Bee and let his metal legs dangle off of the ledge. Bee placed her hand on Cyborg's and he held it there silently.
"I would like some time off for Cyborg and I to try again....if you're ready for that, Sparky?" Bee whispered to the two boys on her sides. "We shouldn't let Slade take away our lives." She concluded and Nightwing nodded in agreement. Bee glanced at Cyborg to see him smiling out at the sea. His human eye looked a little glossy, but she knew that everything was good.
Beastboy and Damien we're playing video games on the sofa as Raven sat next to Beastboy within a book. Raven secretly loved watching Beastboy play video games with Damien because she could feel how much he looked up to Beastboy. They had very similar personalities and the second Damien moved in, he had latched on to Beastboy like Starfire had to Raven. It was adorable to see Beastboy be looked up to, especially since it didn't happen often. Beastboy didn't know it, but hanging with Damien was slowly changing him for the better.
