As Beatrice took upon the beautiful Hogwarts castle at the very edge of Scotland, she mentally prepared herself for the rumors, gossip, and lies that would be spreading this year.

Yes, she was Black, and yes she did had a very close relationship with her uncle Padfoot before Regulus and Aurora had died. She will never understand why her father became a misguided follower of you-know-who. Thus, this only led him to his early grave and despair over her mother's death.

Aurora Lupin was strong and fierce, once Regulus beliefs were tested, it was later found out that her mother worked as a spy, feeding information that had once been from Death Eaters to the order of the phoenix. As his father doubted his loyalties with Voldemort, the foul dark wizard had sent my mother to be killed by Bellatrix and Rodolphus Lestrange. She shuddered at the thought of being tortured by them, having a similar destiny to the Longbottom's; tortured to insanity. She made her way to the castle and settled upon the welcome feast.

Remus always insinuated that both her parents loved her to bits, she believed it. However, it was hard to understand that what her father did was the last sacrifice for a greater good. Moony had also told her stories that sometimes involved her mother and Sirius. Sirius had an infatuation with Aurora the first years of Hogwarts, but then after her mom began to see Regulus, Sirius's bond with her turned into a regular sibling connection.

As always, Professor Dumbledore gave a humble welcoming and the first years got sorted into their houses. When a first-year was sorted into Gryffindor they made sure they were well received.

She shook their hands, introduced herself, and settled them into the best and warmest house they could have. She thought about how it would've been if she got sorted into Slytherin. When she was in the first year, the sorting hat said she was a bloody tough decision. She was what they called a Hatstall since the hat was torn sorting her into Gryffindor or Slytherin. She was destined and promised for both houses.

The words clearly pigmented into her brain, "Another Black, but this one quite peculiar. With her father's ambition and cunningness, Slytherin would be the obvious choice where you succeed and make your father proud. Loyal and kind as a Hufflepuff, but not quite there. Quick-witted and smart, just like a Ravenclaw. Most of all, as brave and passionate as Gryffindors, just like your uncle and mother. I shall sort you into —- GRYFFINDOR".

As soon as the food appeared, the famous Ronald Weasley stuffed his face, barely leaving him any room to breathe.

"Ickle- Ron, you might slow down on the turkey legs", she had said. Ron shrugged and devoured more. Then George and Fred Weasley, better known to me as Git #1 and Git #2 made their way towards her.

As they sat beside her they said in unison "So... a little birdie told us that you might me quartering a mass murderer. Wicked".

She frowned and said sarcastically, "Yes, my uncle will come and kill all of you gits for pestering me so often. Freddie, I don't even remember him when he took care of me. Georgie, we all know you are dead scared of him. So, don't bother mentioning it".

They laughed and continued on serving their food. She turned to the podium where Dumbledore wished out the best of luck to my godfather, who blushed and stood awkwardly. She laughed to myself, he caught a glimpse of myself holding in her smiles and laughs and glared playfully.

As the feast finished she turned to her prefect duties and ushered all the first years to the Gryffindor common room. "First years follow me. This is the way to your new common room. Slytherin is that way, towards the dungeons. Ravenclaw is towards the tower and Hufflepuff is just in between Ravenclaw and Gryffindor's. Be warned, the stairs like to move. You are awarded or taken away points during your classes. These points will be later added up and at the end of the year decide the winner of the house cup. You will be having a special curfew since it is your first year. No wandering the halls beyond 12 am unless you are excused by a note. Please be mindful of your time and location of your next classes. The password to get past the portrait is Caput Draconis. Any questions please ask me and I will be glad to help you find your way into the best house the Hogwarts have to offer", she said.

Percy stared at me in awe and complimented her leadership skills. As they did their rounds the pair talked about many things. He said that he was planning to work with Barty Crouch under the ministry of international magical cooperation. He had to break up with his girlfriend, Penelope Clearwater since he had no time. She frowned upon that since he was overworking himself to the point he had to cut off all relationships that consumed his time. When their rounds were over, they headed to the common room and bided our goodnights. She climbed to her room she shared with two other girls from her year that she wasn't that close with yet. She was left to think at night.

Sirius Black plagued her thoughts, and as if in a cue, her father did too. Remus was always adamant about telling her about her mother, but she needed to know the truth, or if not she felt as if she were to drown in lies and mysteries. With the only thing keeping her mind afloat being Cedric, a gentle smiled etched her lips, and sleep finally invaded her senses.

"Tris! Wake up! We are nearly missing breakfast!" She heard the frantic voice of a Hermione Granger.

She sat up, rubbed my eyes and headed to the bathroom to change into her robes. As we ate, Harry made them promise to go see him at Quidditch practice. She had mixed feelings towards this sport, often found it too rough and senseless.

Although, when it came to cheering for either her house or Cedric's, she would usually wear colored robes to incite house spirit. She had ridden a broom before since the twins pestered so much, and as she mounted he wooden artifact, she had grown uncomfortable and insecure. Bile raised up her throat as she saw the height difference and she begged Fred to bring her down. So, quidditch was a futile attempt that she'd rather leave unsolved.

She managed to get to potions after the tryouts. This was her favorite class along with this year's DADA. Professor Snape did not have the usual hatred towards her as he had with Harry, Hermione, Ron or the twins.

She was only ignored and given an outstanding, and that was completely fine with her. Cedric sat beside her as always, and they both agreed on the ingredients for the Draught of the living death potion. As the period ended, the duo headed to DADA. On the way, Tris could hear people whispering about her, suddenly she was pushed back by a mass of bones that resembled a brick wall. Marcus Flint, with a trailing apologetically-looking Draco Malfoy.

"Look what we have here, the daughter of a blood traitor. Sirius Black I'm sure will come and kill you since you are a disgrace of a pureblood. Even he will gag at the sight of you", Marcus spat at her.

Her father after dying was branded as a blood traitor because he had married Aurora. She growled back and steadied herself narrowed her eyes to them.

She had said in a cold tone that could send shivers down their backs "Now, Draco, what would dear uncle Lucius and aunt Narcissa say if they saw you insult the daughter of Regulus Black? What would Voldemort think? You would be the scum. I assure you, if my uncle does pay a visit, I will send him straight to you". He visibly scoffed and stomped away.

Cedric gave me a sympathetic look and put his arms around her shoulders. He said, "none of that bloody thing means a thing. Draco and Marcus are both a pair of gits. You are way more than that and regardless of your blood status, you are the same beautiful and intelligent Tris Black who I like indeed very much".

As she look with a newfound admiration towards him, she leaned in and pecked his cheek. His ears turned red in embarrassment, but he led her to DADA, where a frantic Remus Lupin decided to temper with bogarts, an oddly dressed professor Snape, dementors, and full moons. She knew her godfather would do a delightful job at having a practical class with wands, yet still making them eager to learn.

As she pointed out Remus's nervous nature to Cedric, they both snickered playfully under their breaths. The new professor narrowed their eyes at the pair and made them stiffen up only to raise his eyebrows jokingly.

She was home and she was glad to share her home with the person she loved as a father.
