Beatrice felt numb. She felt as if she was floating in a sea of her thoughts. She could hear her mother's coos and remember the happy smiles that etched on her father when she gave her first steps towards him.
The tips of her fingers could be moved, she felt it, but trying to open her eyes or as much just nod, ended in futile attempts. She wanted to scream out that she was okay, she wanted to hug her godfather and tell him that this was not his fault.
She was never keen on Remus not feeling anything but normal because of his lycanthropy problem. As two days progressed, she still was in an unmoving form. Her dark locks surrounded her like a halo and her face lost color, leaving her pale, almost looking dead. She wanted to reach out to Moony and tell him that it's okay, that it was out of his control, but that he was the same person that folds his socks and gives her chocolates.
Cedric was summoned to Professor Dumbledore's office. He couldn't help but think that he had been involved in trouble. Or, he couldn't shake the thought that his Beatrice had been the pinnacle of trouble, as per usual.
As he managed to say the password and into the office, he soon saw a ragged Remus Lupin and a pacing Sirius Black. He remembered how fond Beatrice seemed upon the idea that her uncle was innocent, so he listened.
When he was told of what happened he did not think twice to bolt out the door and running with all his might into the infirmary. He could hear Madame Pomfrey's exaggerated screeches, but he could not care less. Dumbledore walked in and dismissed her to halt her screams.
Cedric had tears in his eyes, as he held Beatrice's cold hand. He lifted his gaze on her pale body and a dry sob managed to find his way up to his throat.
He asked Dumbledore,"Why hasn't she cured?"
"Her condition does not let the bite filter out as it should", replied the Headmaster.
He confusingly took his eyes off his beloved and stared at the professor "What condition... is she okay? What is wrong with her?"
Dumbledore just shook his head and answered, "Young Mr. Diggory, the information I'm about to tell you can't leave this room for her sake, soon she will be seeded by evil, she must be protected. Beatrice is electrokinetic. Her powers lie well beyond a wand. She can channel the power of storms and electricity into her spells. Just like her mother, Lord Voldemort wanted to recruit her into his ranks. As she refused and acted as a double agent, he had no remedy other than to kill her. By this time, Ms. Black was born, protected by Mr. Black. When he knew Voldemort was near, he sent his first child to Remus. He knew that Sirius would seek revenge as the betrayal of Peter Pettigrew was at its peak. If Voldemort is to return, he can never get his hands on Ms. Black. He would want her as a weapon of mass destruction. So far Ms. Black hasn't shown any signs of electricity manipulation, but we know that some event of sorts could trigger her".
Cedric looked dumbfounded to the girl he loved. This only made her stronger, and if her electricity where to be triggered, he would hope to be there to help her every step of the way. He nodded at the Professor in gratitude for the new information. He sighed and held her hand, and proceeded to rest his head in the space between her legs and the mattress. Sleep slowly started to consume him.
She felt her eyes slowly open, adjusting to the sunlight emitted from the many windows in the room. She looked around and she figured she was in the infirmary. She remembered the events that took place and scrambled to stand up. She crashed with a body she did not notice sleeping next to her. Cedric opened his eyes, as he felt the commotion. He stared, eyes wide open as Tris in all her glory was pressed to his chest.
He hugged her back, stroking her hair back in an attempt to tug it down. She looked at him and grabbed his face. At that moment, he had stopped breathing and looked to her lips. As she leaned in, his breath was fanning her lips. Her arms found themselves locked in his necked, pulling him closer.
"BEATRICE RO—Oh my, Mr. Diggory, if you please step out and let me talk with my goddaughter for a second would be appreciated. I hope I wasn't bothering", shrieked a pale-looking Moony
The elder Lupin started as he smirked knowingly. The black shaggy dog beside Remus glared at the bronze-haired boy and even emitted small growls. Cedric, with his face, completely flushed and muttering incoherent apologies found his way outside. He would do it today after the feast. He would finally grow some courage and kiss her as his girlfriend. He wasn't almost placed in Gryffindor for nothing.
Inside, Beatrice chuckled and said, "You knew all too well you were bothering Moony, but I'll let this one slide since both my favorite uncles are here".
Sirius turned into his human form and launched himself towards his niece, hugging her tightly and murmuring some words that she could not decipher. Remus looked at his feet, feeling guilty he caused the girl he loved as a daughter so much pain because of his condition. Suddenly he crashed into the shoulder of his best mate as Beatrice pulled him into a hug also.
She held his hand and whispered, "Remus it's not your fault, it was all me, I thought you could recognize me, and I had to protect Harry, Hermione, and Ron. Don't blame this upon yourself. I'm fine. Oddly, I crave meat though?".
Remus let out a chuckle and Sirius let out a bark of laughter.
He held his knees and said, "Oh Merlin, Moony you created a monster".
This made Remus glared at his mate and jokingly pushed him. As they announced both would be leaving for 12th Grimmauld Place, she hugged each one and threatened them to write to her.
She headed to her common room, where she took a long-overdue bath, fixed herself up for the final feast. She was greeted with open arms by the troublesome trio and the even more mischievous twins.
She felt a warm feeling as Cedric smiled to her from the Hufflepuff table. She was home, and she knew she was going to be alright. As Dumbledore announced the end of yet another year, all of the students charged to the train for summer.
She quickly swept through the compartments. She finally found it. Compartment number 121. This was where Cedric and her first met thoroughly and marked the start of a friendship. She was sure there were going to leave this compartment as more, as lovers that would be there for each other no matter the circumstances.
Deep down, she knew that Cedric was meant to be hers, and for her to be his, but alas, she was too scared to confess. She slid the door open and Cedric looked from his lap to the gorgeous girl at the door. He had an inkling she would come to the very same compartment where it all started.
Cedric stood up, hands shaking as he took her face gently examining her ever beautiful features. He finally leaned into the start of something new. She threw her hands around his neck and suddenly pressed her lips into his. As both savored the blissful moment, with their lips locked and Cedric's hand stroking her back, she had her hands tangled with his bronze hair. They separated to take a breath, and Cedric leaned his forehead into hers.
He sighed in contempt and said, "Beatrice, I've loved you from the very start. I can't stand the sight of you being hurt. I want to be there for you, every step of the way. I want to be the one responsible for your smiles every day. I love you, words can't describe how I am utterly and completely in love with you".
Tris had tears in her eyes, and she threw herself into his shoulders, where she took a whiff of his peppermint and quidditch broom polish smell.
She whispered into his ear "Cedric, I was always only yours. I love you too, and I also want to be with you in every step of the way".
They held their glazes lovingly, and both thought the same thing. They knew that there were going to be together for quite some time, and even dare she thought, forever. She kissed his cheek and they were both left to the comfortable silence of the train as they held hands and dozed off to a peaceful sleep.
Unbeknownst to them, a slave was reunited that night with his master. Destiny had a cruel way of working, perhaps lodging itself in between the unconditional love that the pair harbored for each other.
