Cold. She felt cold at first.

Numb. After everything, was it alright for her to feel this numb? Wasn't she too young to feel this numb? Wasn't she too weak to think she wanted to die to be with Cedric?

A piercing headache invaded the back of her head to her eye sockets. Her hands felt as if she was dipped in the glacial water of the black lake during wintertime. She remembered. She recollected the events that had happened only a day before. She could feel his last words pulsating on her mind. Cedric was dead. It was her fault for not trying hard enough. For not pushing her body beyond whatever point possible. He had died with one last loving smile with his face, almost as if he accepted his fate.

As she opened her eyes only to be greeted by the roof of the hospital wing she knew all too much. Tears leaked out of her eyes. She sobbed, waiting for the pain in her chest to subside. She was in so much pain. She cried and wailed, feeling her tears pool at the sides of her head. The pain did not subside.

The matron looked at the girl in pity, ushering her closest family members to see her. Remus watched as the strong girl he knew finally crumble, her walls shattering as if a cannonball had swept through, leaving everything barren.

Remus had to hold back tears when he saw the state of his goddaughter. There was not enough comfort or reassuring words to heal this wound, thus it cuts deeper than his talon scratches, or even a cruciatus curse.

The black dog beside Remus only whimpered. His sounds drowned out by the sobbing that filled the room. Sirius finally turned into his human form and approached the girl.

He took her hands and rubbed small circles in them. He knew the feeling all to well when he saw James, Lily, and Aurora lying in Godric's Hollow.  Remus warily walked to the other side of her bed and mustered the courage to hoist her up so that her back was leaning against his chest and cradled her as if she were a baby.

Beatrice thrashed in the spot and wanted to get away from whoever wanted to restraint her. She wanted Cedric. She wanted to be in his arms. She needed him. He was her oxygen and her reason to smile.

"Beatrice..shhh...shhhhh... It will be alright, we're here for you. Hey, you are fine. It's me, Remus. Open your eyes. You are at Hogwarts. Come on, dear", Remus tried to calm the girl against his embrace.

Beatrice Rose could only weep into Remus's robes, quickly filling them with tear stains. Remus had his chin perched in her head, whispering her words of comfort. Although, the man knew that there is nothing he could do to make this better.

The girl only sobbed dryly as if ridden from any more tears said, "It hurts Moony, I tried. I tried to so hard to save him. I thou- I thought the killing curses had seized and I let one slip through my barriers. I killed Cedric Moony. It's all my fault".

Remus was about to reply when the door was swung open by Albus Dumbledore and a trailing devastated Amos Diggory. The father of the deceased boy sat at the end of her bed and grabbed her hands. The girl looked at Cedric's father, with tears escaping from her eyes, she reached and enveloped him in a hug. She cried once again in his shoulders, while the man ran a hand through her back in a soothing manner. He had also lost his only son, and he knew that Beatrice had lost the love of her life. He knew that Tris lost her person that day, as he also did.

with her voice raw once again she said "Amos, I am so so sorry. He promised me that he would come back to us. I tried to save him, but I failed. I am so sorry I failed you too. I did not try hard enough, if only- "

Amos cut her off with a soft voice. He hadn't spoken to anyone. He could not muster the strength to see his boy lying cold and lifeless in the ground.
