Moonlight From Above

CHAPTER 6

"Tangengot." Pinitik ko ang noo ng kapatid kong si Marcus habang tinuturuan siyang magsagot sa Mathematics.

"Ate, ang hirap kaya!" He said looking so pissed. "Why bother studying if I could just marry someone rich, pogi kong 'to."

"Dami mong alam Marcus, mag-aral ka." Megan said nang dumaan siya sa harap namin at pumunta sa kusina.

"Says by someone whom my classmate saw at the bilyaran at class time." Megan's eyes widened and I immediately looked at her.

"Is it true?" I asked after I stood up. "Were you cutting classes?!"

"The hell you care?!" She shouted and Manang came out and sinamahan niya si Marcus. "Nanay kita? Nanay kita?"

"No! But I am your older sister!" I said and I hold her wirst and she kept on shoving my hand but she just can't.

"Why can't you just let me live my life?! Bakit ba napaka-mapapel mo?!" I didn't know what I thinked and my palm hit her cheek making her eyes wide.

"You don't know what you're saying, Megan." I said while tears are slowly flowing down at my eyes.

"I really don't know kasi ikaw lang naman may alam ng lahat! I don't even know where or who our father is pero ikaw alam mo at pinagdadamot mo sa amin! The saddest part is you are the only one Mom talked to before she died!"

"S-Sinusumbatan mo ba a-ako?" I said while tears are flowing down at my cheeks.

"Stop acting like you're incharge! Stop acting like you can! Because just like Mom one day you'll just give up and let me and Marcus alone!" She ran outside and I just really don't have the strength to chase her.

Ang daming hinanakit ni Megan and it made me bite my lower lip after realizing the pain my sister's trying to overtake.

I'm walking like a zombie at our school, I just really can't stop thinking of Megan kahit alam kong ligtas siya at nasa bahay siya ng kaibigan niya. I hold my books tight after getting it inside my locker and I started walking again.

"Hey." I looked at Caleb wearing his jersey. "Problem?"

"W-Wala." I smiled at him but he just pulled me and pumasok kami sa gym at inupo niya ako sa bench.

"I'll listen." He said and smiled at me. "Speak."

"Naglayas si Megan." He nod and caressed my back. "I don't know what to do, I tried giving my best by becoming their big sister but it seems like I lack at everything. I tried to give them the life they deservie even if they don't have parents."

"Ikaw din naman ah? Walang-wala ka din naman." He smiled and wiped off my tears. "Give yourself some freedom, you're devoting your life on them too much."

"Di pwede kung gagawin ko 'yan paano sila?"

"Anong paano sila? Paano ka?" He said and messed up my hair. "It's not bad to love your siblings so much but sometimes kailangan mo din magbigay para sa sarili mo... you're even stopping yourself from committing just because of them."

"I feel like it's just a waste of time."

"Boyfriend mo naman na si Hollace diba?" He said and smiled and started teasing me. "I'm happy for my bestfriend."
