Carefully, I trended over the glass shards littering the floor of my workshop, my feet bare against the cold tiles as I effortlessly avoided the sharp fragments. Every lightbulb in the palace had erupted at once, a sudden surge of electricity had exploded through them only a moment ago, sending them tumbling to the floor like a shimmering, deadly rainfall. No one had been hurt, thankfully. It was late and the household were all enjoying their slumber. All apart from Knox and I. Seconds after darkness had enveloped Amethyst Falls, my faithful Watcher had stormed into my workshop, his hand on his weapon. Now, however, our attention was set firmly into the sky above us, visible through the clear ceiling, the glass and darkness all but forgotten.

The night sky had burst into an array of colourful auroras, bright vivid lights dancing amongst the backdrop of stars. It stretched out as far as the eye could see in every direction - and there was no doubt in my mind that it would reach as far as Oren, too.

That selfish, egotistical fool would wake up to a completely different world tomorrow. The whole of Siofra would. I smiled to myself, joy sparking inside my chest. Tyron and Faye had finally Bonded. They'd been the reason for the surge, for the bulbs blowing and the Auroras in the sky. It was just as Artie had foretold.

My Chev had never been wrong in the past and if that was indication, the rest of his prediction would surface by morning. I placed my hand on my Watchers shoulder. "Come, Knox. Let us get some rest, tomorrow will be a strange day for us all."

"I'm on Watch tonight and the bulbs need replacing..."

"Artie will fix them tomorrow and for tonight, we are safe." I turned to face the lights once more. "The skies will make sure of that."
