Soaking in the bathtub and breathing in my favorite scent of lilacs and peonies, a scent Senna turned me on to from the gardens, I told my music pods to play a song that had been drifting through my thoughts lately.
"It's your love," I said on a sigh as I closed my eyes, letting the scents and sounds absorb into my mind, body, and soul.
I'd nearly forgotten about this song until I was humming it a while back while working in the fruit garden, and my music pods picked it up. I had forgotten I'd had them in my pocket, but when the smooth voices of Tim McGraw and his beautiful bride, Faith Hill, called to me, I found no more perfect song could've been written about the man I'd fallen head over heels with.
"It's your love, it just does something to me, sends a shock right through me, I can't get enough," I quietly sang the chorus as I admired the tattoo on my hand. A soft smile played on my lips as I recalled every time I'd gripped Ty's hand, and a small bolt of electricity seemed to shoot through my body when our marks connected. His love truly sent a shock through me, and I loved it.
"And if you wonder about the spell I'm under, oh, it's your love."
I'd genuinely felt like I'd been cast under a love spell since that first time Ty kissed me at the falls. He consumed me, and I was happy to free-fall into this crazy life with him by my side.
As I thought back to this afternoon and how we'd just stood at the falls, watching the water rush over the edge and plummet into the river below, flowing through the lands of Siofra, I realized it was very similar to how we'd gotten to be where we are today. From our first kiss to now, we'd dove over the edge, and despite the bumps along the way, we still landed in the same place, destined to navigate the future hand-in-hand.
As the song came to an end, I hummed the chorus to 'Something Bout You' by Sir Roosevelt and followed it by 'She's With Me' by High Valley before I finally pulled myself out of the warm waters and got dressed for bed. I'd considered braiding my hair but decided to forego it for tonight. I'd been braiding my hair to cover my ears for months now and was looking forward to letting my locks free fall once I was back on earth.
Heading back to Chicago had my stomach twisted up in knots. I hadn't seen my family for the past six months when I abruptly took off to Europe and would need to remember that fact when I spoke with them. Also, I was deathly afraid of what could happen to Ty and Rune and their mission to Linux Palace. That castle was relatively easy to navigate, but the guards there were brutal and not forgiving.
Right after supper, I'd had a quick conversation with Rune in which I threatened his life. I doubt he took it very seriously, but I swore if I returned and Ty had gotten hurt, he would lose that appendage he loved so dearly.
"You've got nothing to worry about, Shorty," Rune wrapped his arm around my shoulders and tugged me into him. "I value your Mate's life more than I do my own, I'll take my last breath before he even knows there's danger."
I felt sad at his declaration. Rune wasn't a terrible guy, and his life was just as valuable as Ty's. Sure, Rune was quirky and so painfully sarcastic, but anyone who spent any time with him knew it was a defense mechanism. He kept everyone at an arm's distance and didn't let anyone get close unless he deemed them worthy. Ty and Maya were the closest to him, and that was about it. He wasn't even very fond of his own parents, a story I hadn't heard yet.
"I got you, darlin'," Rune chucked his fist beneath my chin and gave me a quick kiss on the head before he wandered back into the kitchen, calling for another piece of dessert.
And that was the best I could hope for, that and the faith I had in Artie and Luna. Whatever their game was for the future, they needed Ty and me to survive, so it would be in their best interest to ensure our safety. All I could do now was wait and see.
Making my way out to the balcony where I found Ty leaned over and gazing at the garden's below, I couldn't help but admire him. He was so handsome, especially that ass! I was like Nemo and wanted to touch the butt! Damn!
Calling out to Ty, I found he'd been watching Aja, of all people, going down on Rune in the gardens. Forgetting I'd meant to try to hit on Ty with a pick-up line about his yummy tush, I called Senna so we could both enjoy this little show.
Shortly after Ty had pointed out the dynamic duo, he wandered off, and I was quite thankful because, within the next few seconds, he may have lost his mind.
"Faye, is Ty still standing there?" Senna asked, her voice sounding panicked.
"No," I turned my head to double-check, "he's down the hall." Turning back, I questioned, "Why...oh...oh...holy shit!"
A few feet away from where Rune was about to blow like Mount Vesuvius, was Maya and Knox in a heated lip lock of their own.
"Rayne mentioned she walked in on them the other day, Maya looked rather flustered. I didn't believe her, but now..." Senna whispered.
The whole situation was like a train wreck; you wanted to look away but couldn't. You wanted to shout out for help, but you were frozen and only able to watch as the mess unfolded.
Maya was the first to break free, and as she tugged Knox further into the gardens, it didn't take long for a shrill shout to echo onto the balcony. Rune and Aja had been busted, but so had Ty's mom and his mentor, the latter just didn't know it yet.
Spinning around at the sound of Ty wandering back onto the balcony, I quickly hung up on Senna with a quick whisper, "Shit, gotta go. The eagle has returned to the nest."
Meeting him halfway, I jumped into his arms, knowing he'd catch me and smashed my lips into his, praying to Goddess I could turn my own arousal on and drown out the sight I'd just seen.
"Hey, Katinar," Ty growled as he cupped my ass and let me grind on him a bit. "Watching Rune and Aja get you worked up?" he wiggled his brows at me, and a hot blush fanned across my body.
"Something like that," I grinned down at him before I looked into our room and found he'd grabbed the speaker Nero borrowed me sitting on the bedside table. "Watchya doing with the music box, babe?"
