One Word One Shots

Snow

Jasmine woke up to their daughter babbling quietly in her crib and when she opened her eyes she saw Star sitting up, playing with her blanket. Jasmine got out of bed, making sure Anthony stayed awake and crossed the room to her crib. Star looked up and squealed, reaching up for Jasmine. Jasmine picked her up and laid her head against her shoulder.

"Good morning sunshine," she said, gently swaying. She opened the windows and a beautiful sight caught her eye.

"Star, look out here!" she said, pointing out the window. Snow had fallen over night, blanketing the ground as far as they could see.

Star squealed, leaning forward and pressing her little palms against the window.

Unbeknownst to the two of them, Anthony had woken up and he was staring at the two of them with a goofy smile on his face. He snapped a couple pictures before getting up and wrapping his arms around her waist.

She giggled when she felt his arms, turning her head and kissing his cheek.

"Good morning girls," he mumbled, pressing light kisses to Jasmine's neck. "I see it snowed."

"It did," Jasmine resounded. "Maybe after we finish decorating the house we can go outside."

"Definitely," he said. "You ready to experience snow for the first time, little one?"

Star just babbled, wrapping her arms around Jasmine's neck.

The rest of the morning consisted of them finding the ornaments and Christmas decorations and bringing them downstairs. They were careful to keep an eye on her so she didn't hurt herself.

Star was intrigued by all the colorful decorations and the big tree. It was her first big holiday so this was her first time experiencing all the color and excitement.

Anthony picked her up and set her on his hip, showing her all the different ornaments on the tree.

He came across a picture that made him smile. "You see this one honey?" He asked, pointing it out. "This is the first Christmas that Mama and I spent together."

Star stared at it for a minute before pointing at Jasmine in the picture, then pointing at Jasmine and babbling something.

"Yeah that's Mama," he said, bouncing Star on his hip. "She's still as beautiful as ever, isn't she?"

Jasmine looked up from where she was sitting on the floor and blushed. "Oh shut up," she mumbled, a smile on her face.

"Hey, I'm just speakin' facts baby girl," Anthony told her, setting Star down.

She crawled over to Jasmine, looking in the box she had in front of her, then crawling over to the window and looking out at the snow.

"You wanna go outside?" Jasmine asked and Star squealed, clapping her hands together. "I'll take that as a yes," she said, laughing.

They got their coats and boots on, making sure Star was properly bundled up, seeing as she was still pretty little.

Jasmine was holding as they went out into the backyard and Star's eyes widened at the sight. It looked like a winter wonderland, with snow still falling. Jasmine brushed some snow off the patio and sat down, situating Star on her lap.

"This is snow honey," she told her. "It's fun to play with, but it's really cold too."

"Yeah, that was made clear when I dumped a load of snow on you a few years back," Anthony said laughing.

"Mhm and if you try that again, I'm locking you out," Jasmine threatened.

Anthony laughed and Jasmine picked up a small handful of snow, letting Star touch it. Her eyes grew wide as she continued to play with it and she picked some up and threw it, laughing when it fell down.

Anthony took her from Jasmine and carefully balanced her feet on his, holding onto her hands. "There you go!" he said. "Now you're walkin' little one!"

Jasmine smiled as he walked around the yard with her. "Ant!" she called out and he looked up. "Shall we build her first snowman too?"

His smile immediately grew and that was all she needed. They instantly started working on it, switching off who was holding Star. With the help of her parents she stacked the snowballs and put the sticks in for arms, clapping excitedly when it was done.

However, Jasmine also noticed she was getting cold. She was shivering and yawning a lot more, staying closer to Jasmine.

"Alright I think it's time to go in," Jasmine said once they were done, picking Star up.

They went inside and Anthony went to make some hot chocolate while Jasmine changed Star into a soft, fuzzy onsie. She brought her back downstairs with her little blanket too and at that point, Star was nodding off.

Jasmine cuddled up to Anthony on the couch, situating Star so she was laying on her chest and taking the mug from Anthony.

Star was asleep less than 5 minutes later and Jasmine pressed gently kisses to the top of her head.

"I think this is gonna be the best Christmas yet just because of her," Anthony mumbled, leaning his head against Jasmine's.

"Me too babe," she responded.

i had my first ap exam today and boy was it nerve wracking but i think i did pretty good and i also survived my first year of high school so that's a plus
