Kathryn is waiting for the other shoe to drop. A blessing doesn't come alone, and in her case, there will always be a downside. She just doesn't know what yet, but she's just waiting to figure out how she's going to make this bad for herself. It always happens.

But not yet, no. For now, sitting on the HMS Pogue next to Kie, she's allowed to bask in the warm sunlight darkening her brown skin, John B's fake Ray Ban's on her nose. They come in handy, especially considering that right in front of her, JJ is sporting absolutely nothing except his swimsuit and a pair of sunglasses.

He thanks whoever created sunglasses too, because with Kathryn's hair let down and curlier with the humidity, the white bikini and the bandana she stole JJ last night around her wrist to hide the bandage, he's also having a hard time remembering anything at all. He wouldn't be able to tell you his name.

He shakes his head. Get a grip. "You guys see that?" He's talking about the boat coming ahead. "That's the Malibu 24-MXZ, the world's finest wakesetter. Number one in luxury, quality, and performance. 200K, easy."

Kathryn leans backwards, observing the boat JJ is describing. "Neat-o." She doesn't exactly care for boats. Besides, it looks impractical and only fit for two. Way too small for the five of them.

"We picked the wrong parents," Pope says.

"Not sure that's a thing you pick, Pope," she hums. He only whines back.

"I hate to break it to you guys," Kie says, "but that's Topper and his girlfriend."

Kathryn's jaw suddenly begins to hurt when she remembers the night at the beach, and she clenches her teeth. She didn't miss Topper. Sarah, yes, of course, she's very nice. But how nice can she be when she's hanging out with Topper? Besides, Kathryn and her haven't talked since that night, and it was what, almost a week ago?

"Hey Kat," Sarah greets when they ride past them.

Kathryn is a bit taken aback, but offers her a two-fingered salute. Awkward.

"You don't have to act like you don't see us, bitch," Kie groans.

Kie and Sarah were friends until they were not, is basically what Sarah told her. She apparently called the cops on Sarah because she had a birthday party and didn't invite her, or something. Seems petty enough for Kathryn to do it too, so she never judged or took a stance on this.
