The pick-up zooms down the street to the hospital, not exactly paying attention to the speed-limit, but then again, Kathryn is on a mission. Her mother wanted her to toughen up. She wanted her to be strong.
She was going to eat her heart out.
From the backseat, JJ stares at the back of her head, giving up on telling her to turn back around. He tried, he shouted, he almost begged, but she wouldn't back down, she couldn't.
Because Caroline killed her father. It was never Ward, it was her. She killed her father–and why? She had to know. She couldn't not know why she would kill the only parent who ever loved her, who ever gave a damn about her.
She was there at the funeral. She was there, she held her hand, but he was not. They never found the body she buried in the sea. And she pretend to be this heartbroken widow–
Kathryn wants her dead.
"Kat, c'mon. KD, think this through!"
She stops the car further down the street, and storms out. It's a good thing the cops are already at the hospital to protect Max, because she's going to kill her mother, and the morally good part of her wants someone to stop her.
But deep down she knows that there's no stopping this. Her mother made her into this monster shaped as a girl, and despite knowing that the cops are gonna jump their ass as soon as they see them–maybe even fire at them, because god bless America, she doesn't care. Nothing will come between her, and her mother.
Anger keeps her sharp enough. Focused. Despite having no logic to her actions, they are precise and calculated. Cold. Just like her mother is.
"Kat!"
She stops abruptly behind the hospital, hiding in the tree line in front of the fire exit. JJ almost crashes into her.
"What, JJ?"
He's out of breath, eyes wild compared to how calm and composed she seems. "Did you think this through?"
She scoffs. "You followed me, did you think it through?"
